Why is it that DEI cars dominate the plate races? They do so well at Daytona and 'Dega, but seemed to be just average at the other tracks. I just can't figure it out. There is just something there. Is it a secret the drivers know? Is their setup that different from other cars? Is it just the way Nascar wants it? What do you guys think it is?

They got someone up above guiding their drivers to the win.

One thing DEI has going is the engine department. The engine building room is one of the largest rooms at DEI. One section of it is devoted to restrictor plate engines. They also have 2 engine dyno rooms that are in constant use to perfect those engines.

Okay, so why doesn't that person guide them at other tracks???

A really good question,Dee Dee. Logic would seem to dictate that if the Teresa and Ty cars could run this good here....they could at least contend at some of the other tracks. Not to sound mean[well maybe just a little] it could possibly be more sinister than we would like to admit!

Some will claim they have just 'done their homework at the plate races'....but if that is all it is,why not just do their homework at the rest of the tracks?

I just dont know to tell the truth.

It also has to do with attitude. Junior has admitted to "hating" some tracks.
It's like being in a class you don't like, you expect to do badly, so you do.

Thats exactly what I have been thinking!

Dale Earnhardt was one of the best at plate tracks. He knew what it took to win. And he built DEI on that knowlage. Thats why DEI cars do so well.

They do well on plate tracks because those get the most TV and commercial dollars. They are the only races that matter, Jr doesn't need to win a championship. He's already a multi-millionaire so there's no motivation to do anything else but keep the sponors happy by winning the biggest races.

Why would a team concentrate on only one kind of race? Especially if that kind of race is like 2% of the entire season? The answer is right in front of ya, ya just need to admit it. Think about it, it's because those races get Bud the most exposure and keep the dollars rolling in.

It has nothing to do with Daddy helping from the heavens.

hey paul wanna bet against dale jr getting a short track win this year?

I'm sure he'll manage to get at least one win. Not much to brag about there my friend. :)

No real secret IMO.

Jimmy Spencer gave us the answer before the Firecracker 400 either last year or the year before.

Some choose to believe otherwise. That is their perfect right. I choose to agree with him, as is my perfect right.

Must really suck to be a contender 4 races a year. Huh, Mikey?

DEI's dominance of plate "races" doesn't bother me too much as it is only 4 "races" a year where they excel. I think they get what they want in winning Daytona and Talledega. As Paul said, they win the high profile races and keep the sponsors happy. I really don't see Little E as a serious threat for a Championship unless the organization seriously changes their approach to the other tracks. He seems lost at times on other tracks. I'm not so sure he has the skill to handle the changing conditions from week to week enough to post the consistent top tens it takes to compete for a championship, so their focus might be the best approach.

Actually the 4 plate tracks account for 11.1% among different track types.Still too few races IMO to place most of a teams resources into,if DEI is really interested in climbing into the Top 10 in final point standings & starting to become a real contender for the Winston Cup Champion,JMO!

I liek something Schrader said on one of the NASCAR shows that was on teh travel Channel last night
He said That he used to admit to hating some tracks btu he ended up not doign good at that track. SO he nows says that the current track they are at is his favortie.
If Jr had that same idea, then he might do better at soem tracks!! If DEI had the same type of motors at all the otehr tracks god help the rest of the feild. WOuld be cool to see Mikey win the Championship. Can you imagine to speach at the awards show!!!

Yea, I accept this award on behalf of the engine, body and pit crew.

DEI as well as RCR do very well on Restrictor Plate Races because they put a lot of time and money into the cars aerodynamics. The RAD teams (RCR, APR, DEI) share all there information from track and wind tunnel tests so they can make there cars go as fast as they can within the rules of NASCAR. If you look back a RAD car has won in 8 of the last 9 restrictor plate races, 4 wins by Dale Earnhardt Jr., 2 wins by Michael Waltrip, 1 win by Bobby Hamilton, and 1 win by Dale Earnhardt,

Money's is Money no matter where you win. They have the RP races figured out and make the money. I wouldn't turn it down and nobody else would either. I can't wait for them to win somewhere else this year. Then we can agrue about how they cheated to win there! :p

They won't cheat at the other tracks, they're cheating now.

They will simply stumble into a win at another track.

Stumble, walk, crawl, or push---a win is a win. Rusty Wallace would give his eye teeth for a win right now and I'd bet he'd do some fine rule walking to do it to!
