I have came up with a new schedule that NASCAR should use for the Cup series using dates for the 2008 season. The schedule takes one date away from Loudon and adds Kentucky and takes one away from California and gives Las Vegas a second date. I have moved some dates around for better logistics and for some better venues for The Chase. Watkins Glen is now in The Chase. The second Atlanta race has been moved to earlier in the year and is now a night race. The Southern 500 is now back on Labor Day weekend. There is room to take a date from Pocono for another track. Look it over and offer some input. Keep in mind with Easter being in March this year, that moves a few races around anyway. When Easter is in April, I'd have an open date after Vegas in March.

Feb. 17 Daytona 500
Feb. 24 Phoenix
Mar. 2 Las Vegas
Mar. 9 Texas
Mar. 16 Atlanta
Mar. 23 OFF for Easter
Mar. 30 Bristol
Apr. 6 Martinsville
Apr. 13 California
Apr. 20 OFF
Apr. 27 Talladega
May 3 Richmond (Sat. night)
May 10 Kentucky (Sat. night)
May 17 All-Star race
May 25 Coca-Cola 600 (night)
June 1 Dover
June 8 Pocono
June 15 Michigan
June 22 Sonoma
June 29 Loudon
July 5 Daytona (Sat. night)
July 13 Chicago
July 20 OFF
July 27 Indianapolis
Aug. 3 Pocono
Aug. 9 Atlanta (Sat. night)
Aug. 17 Michigan
Aug. 23 Bristol (Sat. night)
Aug. 31 Darlington (night)
Sept. 6 Richmond (Sat. night)
---The Chase---
Sept. 14 Las Vegas
Sept. 21 Watkins Glen
Sept. 28 Dover
Oct. 5 Kansas
Oct. 11 Charlotte (Sat. night)
Oct. 19 Martinsville
Oct. 26 Talladega
Nov. 2 Texas
Nov. 9 Phoenix
Nov. 16 Homestead

May 10 Kentucky (Sat. night)

Kentucky?? I didn't realize they had Cup races there.
Seriously I think they will race Cup in Canada or Mexico before Ky gets a race.

No way you can have an early March race in Texas. End of March or early April (as it is now) is where it has to be.
ditto.

We can get snow any oddball point you can imagie, pretty much october till april is potential snow season. Then you have march till july rain and severe weather season, and drought season from may till december.

Heck this year we had snow 2 weeks before the spring cup race and tornadoes the week prior to the race.

Put the last race of the year at Alanta

Drop an Vegas bring back The Rock
Drop an Texas race add another road corse
Drop an Pocono add Iowa
Drop an Phoenix add Springfiled or Duquion (IL) - Dirt

Id also like to see the chase tracks change year to year.

I really don't agree that any track should have two races. I would rather see a date at Texas and Kentucky. Then two dates at eather track. Spreed the races out more.

I'd also like to see an race on Dirt. Eldora might not be the best track but there is always "the magic mile" Springfiled, IL. and The Duquion (IL) Mile. Even if it was a non points race. Arca has two dirt races, dont see why Busch or Cup could not have one.

eh, stick road amaerica or VIR in the chase. Or since it'll be the COT, save the teams a li'l and make sebring or Road Atlanta be the second to last race, the week before homestead.

I looked at that. The prelim schedule looks like Atlanta will get that date. But that might be too early for them too. There are limited options because they don't want to go out west 3 straight weeks. An open date would be a better option there. But with Easter just being 2 weeks after that, that's not a good spot for the open date.

Well if Penske can get his zoning variance he's going to build a road course near his shop and they could race there... :D

IMO, we already have 2 too many road course races now.
Also, if you're going to limit the tracks to 1 race I can really see Nascar doing that at Daytona. And, if they don't take away all the double dates you know there will be lawsuits so why even bother.

I just don't see the point of a track having two dates, when they can't can not sell out for one. Maybe if you add sales from both races togather you will get a "sellout".

Sebring or Road Atlanta would be awesome for NASCAR. I'd love to see that.

That's why I have only one date for California on my version.

I would like to see another road track on the schedule and also one in the final 10 races. It would also be nice to see either Bristol or Richmond in the final 10 races.

Lappy, Texas' first race is always a sellout, and the 2nd race is getting closer to a sell out. Usually the only empty seats are on the backstretch. The only problem that the 2nd Texas race has is that the date of the race weekend is also the opening weekend of Deer Season in Texas. Some die-hard race fans are also die-hard deer hunters.

I was talking more about Cail having two races now.

But as iv said over the past 4 years or (whenever i joined this place) That i would rather see 2 races at two diff tracks (even if they are 1.5 mile cookie cutters) then 2 races at the same track, If NASCAR wants to get in new (more) markets this is what they need to do.

Im not tryin to get KY a date so i can go. Because there i more then likly would not go, because of the drive (dega is about the same distance, and iv just been there twice) and i race on fir and sat nights.

But if they take away one of their races in he northeast, than what about that market?

Loudon sells out every race date and has for 32 straight races. Can any other track say that? It's the only NASCAR track in New England.

I'd love to see Kentucky get a race and the southern 500 back on labor day weekend,

Yeah don't take away our Watkin's Glen race, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! :) It's hard to say whether the first Chase weekend or 2nd would be best. You'd think the first weather-wise, but last weekend it was cold and rainy and this weekend it's hot! I definitely think there should be a road course in there!

Yeah. But I bet that if any other track in New England had a Nextel Cup race, that track would also sell out, as long as fans are still able to go to any of these tracks in New England since it's such a small region.

That's just my $.02.
