as a substitute for Viagra? A picture of Jr. :D

I don't think the man can complete a sentence without saying the word 'Jr'. I thought that NBC did a fair job covering the race today but BP has too go. Probably a very nice man but there are 42 other drivers out there.

Congrats JR fans!

I gotta agree with you there.

I agree with NBC doing a good job on the broadcast today. But Benny does show his favortism.

Well when you're spending all your time in the front of the feild all day. You kinda gotta talk about the guy. whiners.

Jr could have been out of the race and sitting on the toilet in his motor coach and BP would have still been talking about him.

I'm not whining about Jr's win. I'm very happy for him and his fans. But, it gets a bit old when everything that comes out of BP's mouth has something to do with Jr.

Oh well, we don't have to hear BP again for about 5 months. For now we get to watch the FOX's version of the Barnum and Baily Circus. I sure wish that ESPN still had the coverage. :D

That's probably not a true statement. :D

If you still had ESPN,then you'd still be griping about Benny.

Benny is a cool guy,I can't understand why people dislike him.

I agree with the circus. But it is going to be a long 5 months with DW and his boggity boggity boggity crap saying he has.

Let us all hope that one day ESPN will get the races back. I sure do miss Jerry Punch and his pit reports.

I like Benny. And I used to like DW but man his mouth gets way out of hand sometimes! :) We fans ain't never gonna be satisfied. :D I preferr NBC/TNT with Wally and Benny.........many others like FOX/FX with Hammond and DW!! It's a constant war. ESPN is gone.......we need to get past that. What's more important? The race or the commentators? I say the race.........and just shake my head when DW says something really stupid. :D

A fair job in the coverage??? I don't think so. Did everyone like the fact that the last half of the race all they showed was the first 5 car group go round in a circle. How about Casey mears did anyone even see the target car on the track?

NO WONDER WHY TEAMS CAN"T GET SPONSORSHIP!!!!!

Was kenseth even mentioned in any of the spots talking about the Rock this week?

Benny is a good guy, when Fox comes back on, it'll be crap. DW runs his mouth off, basically talks like a confused old man, well, because he is one, and he talks about parts on a car I have never even heard of. Like a 2 bit boring, wide chip or some crap like that and DW talks about it for hours on end.

When FOX comes back, I'll just turn the volume down and listen to MRN.

why did you have to remind me that we get the BBB Bull Crap startin next week,
just tryin to ruin my good mood ??

The last 110 laps it was the Junior show. And people wonder why certain fans dont like Junior. Well thats the main reason why, the media tries to shove him down so far down the throats of every fan that everyone just gets tired of it.

The commentary is obviously biased but even if DEJr is the most popular driver, they still could talk about some of the other drivers...it's not like fans can flip to another channel for coverage. I suppose they to like to make NASCAR happy and why not, they want the broadcast rights.

I do believe that they may be shooting themselves in the foot, though. As Dinoforthe3 posted earlier, sponsors may say to hell with it if they're not going to get at least decent coverage.

As for Kenseth, it was pretty clear last year that they don't care for his style. If you're going for ratings - and who isn't - Kenseth just doesn't have enough attitude and mouth. I can't remember him ever saying anything that would be considered controversial or blaming this person or that rule. He's just not the poster boy they need to compete. Maybe sponsors should write into the contracts that drivers/crew chiefs are required to do some cursing and swearing once in a while. Or at the very least, stop the race at lap 100 and put on a little WWF style halftime special - Roush/DEI/RCR in the steel cage.

I have always thought ESPN did a much better job at broadcasting the races. Better camera work of the entire field........seemed they very seldom missed any of the action whether it be a wreck or a critical pass. With FOX/FX and NBC/TNT the focus is more on the pits........and to be honest they do a very good job there (something ESPN didn't cover to any large degree.......it was commercial break time for them). But, I also remember wondering what the heck was going on with the other drivers.........I mean, Ned and Benny would drone on and on about the top 3 to 5 cars. Crap, if Earnhardt was back in the field (or a lap down for some reason) I had no idea what was going on with him......and I would whine about it just like I'm hearing here. :)

ESPN probably ain't never going to get the rights back to carry the races...........they don't even seem interested anymore. So, it's either quit the sport for me or adapt. I've chosen to adapt. And to be honest, FOX and NBC are getting pretty darned good at their broadcasts. Sponsors have always had to deal with lack of coverage if the driver of their sponsored car is a back marker. That's probably why back markers have such a hard time getting sponsors :D I, for the most part, like the race coverage.........it ain't perfect. But ESPN wasn't perfect either. And don't accuse me of being a newbie..........I"m far from it. :)

Right on RobbyG and Patrick9999!!!!!!

Here's what I would like to see during the middle of a race like the Daytona Jr show. All of the drivers that are not being mentioned or shown on the telecast just pull their car behing the wall and load them up. Let Jr and the other couple of young guns that get TV time put on the show. A couple races like that and NASCAR will see their sponsorship go up in smoke just like what is happening to some of the drivers.

I realize this will probably never happen because the drivers still love to race most of all. But maybe a little protest is just what 'COMMUNISTCAR' needs inorder to see that the 43 drivers make the show, not just one.

Is this the "NASCAR General Chat" section of this forum? Maybe I should start a poll.......who likes NASCAR? :XXROFL:

In the real world of network TV Advertisement dollars is wnat counts. If your sponsor doesn't buy Ad time your car doesn't get air time.

And without TV advertisers' dollars we all would left to watch only the races at tracks we can get to. Cutie and I would be left to one race a year out here in California (oops, that's two starting this year)................wait a minute!! :( There wouldn't be a race out here in California!! We'd have to live in North Carolina!!! But then the population of North Carolina would be 75 million.............crap, who'd want to live in such a tiny state with that many people? But, look on the bright side, races would cost about 10 bucks and beer would be a buck fifty and we all would fight for the turn one seats so we could get mud in our teeth............we'd be real fans then!!

I understand that if you haven't bought AD time - too bad! But I would have to think that sponsors have purchased AIR time by sponsoring teams. Don't get me wrong, I like nascar but what will happen if some of the high-end sponsors get po'd and take their advertising dollars elsewhere?

Maybe they need to choose their teams more carefully. Maybe the need drivers who mention their sponsors every third word.

Let's be honest here, if nascar wants more than 4/5 teams supporting them, they should step up and do the same. We all watch the races and we all have our favorite drivers and as far as I know, no one fan is any better than the rest. So, with races that last over 3 hours, shouldn't all fans get to hear something about their favorite divers?

If I'm not mistaken, NBC's contract expires after 2005. Fox's expires in 2007. There will be an opportunity for ESPN/ABC to get back in if they want to pay the price tag. Fox is losing big bucks, so it remains to be seen if they'll want to stay in after 2007.

Both NBC and Fox have their pluses and minues. I remember the days when only 3 races a year were live. I am happy to have all races, qualifying, and more on for all races. It could be worse, races could be pay-per-view.

Although Jr. was running up front for most of the race, would it realy hurt to mention the other drivers. I was at the race and was glad to be able to listen to the MRN (at least they give the rest of the field some coverage) broadcast whenever the NBC broadcast became unbearable.

Both Biffle and Gordon made there way from the back of the pack avoiding the accidents and were up in the front pack contending for more than half the race, yet very little mentioned of either of them. Now once that last round of pitstops occurred and the groups got really seperated, I can understand them concentrating on the front group, but there was still some pretty good racing for position in the second group.

If both Benny and DW were eliminated from their respective broadcasts (or at least minimized somehow) I think the quality of coverage would improve.

I'm sure many of you who go to the races and listen to the broadcasts on your scanners hear all the producers recomendations on what they should cover. From the races I've been too a lot of that is ignored by the guys in the booth. I don't think we'll ever get a truly partisan broadcast, but one can dream.

Of course this isn't just about Jr. Since anytime a road course comes up Gordon (both of'em) get a lot of coverage. Plate tracks will always feature a lot of DEI coverage. It's to ba too since a lot of the best racin is happening mid-pack.

If you want to see nothing but the front runners, go back a few years --- early 80s. I have some races on tape that would make you swear there weren't but 5 or 6 cars on the track.

While I'm not a big fan of DW's "boogity" business, or Benny's "senior moments", at least I can SEE the race.
