What happened to my post?

Hi,
I made a post earlier and looks as if someone removed it! What gives?

Did you read the user guidelines when you signed up? No SPAM allowed.

Would you please define spamming? I do not believe I was spamming at all. One post does not spam make.

I clicked on ealrier today and after checking some other posts I thought that something had disappeared from when I first got on.

Perhaps you said something offensive?

So what you are saying is that no type of website can be mentioned on this forum?

In mention, yes. Promoting, well, no. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me, and I'll clue you in if you don't understand the rules.

majestyx,

If you would give an example of the difference between mentioning and promoting so i will know where you stand.

Thank you!

i am a bystander but believe this particular issue should be resolved via PM's. Just my 2 cents.

I disagree. I think this is the place for an answer so that others may learn by example.

I didn't see the post........guess it was taken down before I had a chance. However, if it was what I think it was (something like "Come to my site for your NASCAR chat" or along those lines) I have to side with the mods on this one. Put it in your signature like you have it........fine. But to come on someone else's site and actively recruit members from it is something else.........sorry, but that is just rude. This is entirely my opinion. But, your insistence on discussing it in the open invites opinions. Experience here has shown me that very few posts or topics are deleted.........there evidently was a problem. No one needs to know the details as you think they do. Just have fun here........we are friendly for the most part.

Great reply, DE_ W2!!!! Well stated and clear, and I agree! LOL

[/QUOTE](something like "Come to my site for your NASCAR chat" or along those lines)
You are right. That would be just plain blatant rudeness to go to another NASCAR chat site and try to extract members. My website has nothing to do with NASCAR chat or forums. If you would have visited before your post you would have seen that for yourself. Any way I feel way outnumbered and unwelcome here so it's been nice chatting.
Boo Hoo!
See ya.

I do and would allow you to advertise your site here if your willing to give me banner space on yours for free as well. Otherwise i dont allow first post advertisements.

samcurry,
Nice offer that would have been great earlier, but after the way my membership has gone I will have to pass. I would not recommend this forum to anyone.

Ruffled! :EEEEK:

Well unfortunately when a new person signs up and their very first post is to take members away from here(even if its not a forum) to go to another site . Most of the pldtimers here dont appreciate it. Proper edicate would be to post a bit and get to know us then invite people to see your site.

Agreed samcurry, and it's all about learning the rules and reaspect as well!

I've stayed away from this thread because I'm certainly aware of the rules of courtesy and respect.

Don't get your feathers in a ruffle so early in the membership, nascarup.

A lot of us start out on the wrong foot when we came here. Stay around for a while and you will learn we are a pretty good bunch.

This is the best forum site on the net, hands down.
Thanks, slick-nick! We certainly try to make it, and keep it, the best! ;)

Sheesh, just look at my post count and you know how much I love this forum!

It never seems to amaze me at how so many Boards are afraid of Freespeech. Why can a person not talk about another Board? If you already have an established usergroup what are you afraid of? It is a shame becasue I have seen too many Boards implode due to overexcessive "monitoring."

That being said it is your Board and I will respect that but feel I should be allowed to say that IMO it is sad you feel it is sad to delete posts.

There is nothing wrong with someone talking about "another board", as you call it, when you are here. I don't have a problem with Free Speech, and we at this board aren't afraid of it either. The problem that we DO have is these folks that insist on registering here, and their VERY FIRST POST is nothing more than and advertisement for "another board". It is preferred practice that you introduce yourself, get to know the folks a little bit, then suggest they visit your board. It's a simple little thing called common courtesy, better known as ettiquette.

Off my soapbox now.

No one in charge of "monitoring" this forum has ever criticized me for mentioning my site. However I do it in a low key way with the intent of contributing to this site.

Registering and then promoting your site is advertising. You'll allow that from a longer term member but it just rubs the wrong way with a newbie.

Think of it in this way. Let's say you own a house and a guy you don't know knocks on the door and wants to put a sign in your yard for a store down the street. He's not going to pay you for, just wants you to do it.

You'll most likely be declining his offer.

And if he just stuck the sign in your yard without asking permission, well...

On the other had if a long term acquantance made the same request, you'd be a lot more likley to not kick him in the butt!

Just my 2 cents worth.

Well I'm back! I get the jest now after viewing alla the retoric assosiated with this topic from members and such. First of all I have to regret the way I entered this board and introduced myself which which may have looked like nothing but advertising on my part. That was just my introduction and not meant to be advertising, just letting other visitors be aware of my website. After my first post was reviewed by (The Oval Office) and determined to be in the "gray area" which I can understand, but did not agree on, the powers that be have full control over the rules and regulations. So from now on we will do our best to "run in the gray area" and they will do their best to monitor us. Have a great race!
