What happens to the Chase

With a Thunderstorm forecast for the full weekend, what would happen if they had to postpone the Bristol race until after the other races? Would it totally mess up the Chase? Or would they make it a part of the final ten races? Just wondering?

Umm....it's only a 20% chance of rain for tonight and Saturday, so I don't think there's a whole lot to worry about.

true, but you have to wonder what they would end up doing...you know? Throws a big fat wrench into the gears that way...it would take the gusto out of Homestead Miami andput HUGE emphasis on Bristol or whichever track got rescheduled, you know? Maybe that was an unforseen possibility, don't know.

I would bet they would stay there until they got it finished even if it were Monday or Tuesday.

Not that it really looks to be an issue as the current forecast calls for 20% chance of rain Friday and Saturday, 30% Sunday and Monday.

Rain, shine, sleet, snow - whatever. It's a damn good question and I for one would like to know the answer.

Then you'll have to wait for it to happen as a very seriously doubt NASCAR is going to discuss it before it actually happens.

And I seriously doubt NASCAR will allow it happen anyway. They'll find a way to get in at least half of the laps to prevent it from happening.

I would think that NASCAR would do the same thing they have done for years; if they can get at least one lap beyond the half-way mark, the race is called official. If that is not possible, the race is to be run on the next clear day.

At least that's the way it's been done in the past and it seems to have always worked OK.

Is there a race this weekend?

I thought they were putting on their special "Annual Under the Lights Demolition Derby" at Bristol.

Na$car has had for several years a next clear day rule. If Saturday night is rained out the race will be run on the next clear day thru Tuesday.

what happens if it just storms crazy all week long? that's the question i was asking

What happens if a earthquake hit., A tornado hit. Godzilla attack or a spaceship landed in the infield. Questions we have no answers to untill they happen.

As Tiny said, in the past, they've had a policy of keeping trying up through Tuesday.

It would be very unlikely that there would be 4 consecutive days where they couldn't find at least 6 clear hours. If I recall correctly, Bristol dries very fast because it is concrete and the banking.

If it does rains solid for 4 consecutive days, then we'll find out how NASCAR would react. We won't find out until then because it is so unlikely I'm sure NASCAR won't address it until then.

Judging by their past actions, NASCAR might just declare Junior the winner and move on to the next race. ^_^

Just kidding of course ;)
