I know, I know, this has been covered time and time again, but lets chat about it again. It always gets me that so many fans always say that they don't watch racing for the wrecks. Well, I won't counter that, but what I want to know, what makes this sport so special for you? If it's racing you want, you can watch people pushing shopping carts around in circles. Not much of a chance that anyone will get seriously hurt in those races. People don't like plate racing because they want to see the cars go faster. Why in heavens sake does anyone who doesn't want to see wrecks see the cars go faster? Doesn't make sense unless you put the cars on rails where this is never a chance for a wreck.

My point here is that while the majority of us will say that we don't watch or love the sport for the wrecks, without them, the sport would certainly be boring. To me, a great race is one that has me sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting to see something happen that I either like or dislike, but even if it doesn't happen, I'm watching for it. It get the adrenalin flowing and there's nothing like it.

I think it's a fine line, Buckster. We have drivers putting their lives on the line for the love of the sport, fans from all walks of life, side by side racing, passing, bump drafting, idiots and heros all on the same track. Anger, aggression, patience, self control, passion and so much more! I guess that those of us who LOVE the sport just may be living vicariously thru our own favorites.
