What Is Wrong With Stewart-Hass This Year?

they have been garbage this year and I was excited when Kevin Signed there for 2014 now its got me thinking they might not be an upgrade from RCR at all.

not to keep you up at night or anything, because i kinda wonder about the same things.....

but then i realized that if it wasn't for tony's miraculous run to the championship, they haven't really been that great since they started.

i've always been a closet tony fan (my dad despises him) because of his often brutal opinions, dirt track roots, and eldora purchase.... but i'm just not convinced they have a super team yet.

maybe he could get some pointers from mikey.:D

It would be a much shorter list to ask what's right?
I also really wonder what Harvick is thinking about it right now.

Tony Stewart isn't my driver by any means, But he will bounce back, I predict Darlington will be a good race for him if he starts near the front, i'm thinking he bounces back with a top 5

That's a bold prediction considering Stewart has never won at Darlington in 20 starts.

Not saying he will win, I just think it will be a solid run for him, But hey, anything can happen especially this season

I don't know, but I'm a little worried for Harvick. Not entirely - yet - though. Newman's had some pretty good runs. Three out of nine races he had a tire or engine problem and the other six he came in the Top 15. No one actually expected Danica to run consistently well. Stewart could just be having a down year or he could also make another mid-to-late-season run (I don't think it happens, though). It's still early.

What's wrong? Two words: Danica. They had trouble introducing a third car, so if they start a fourth team for Harvick, they will struggle. In a perfect world they would ax Danica to make room for him, but I'll settle for axing Newman.

It's Danica's fault that the fatboy can't win a race? If you remember , he wasn't running well before he lucked into a good chase run and he won the championship . He was running so bad that he fired his crew chief and told the press that his team didn't deserve to be in the chase. Tony has been having problems long before Danica. They have a full time test team now and hopefully that effort will produce some results.

I think SHR is a good team, but they arent consistent is the problem. Its always hit or miss with them. When they run good, they are contenders, but when it goes wrong, it goes really wrong for them. Maybe its something with how the set up their cars that makes it more difficult to adjust on during the race or something. RCR seems to be pretty hit or miss the last 2 years as well.

You bring up a good point, those five races in 2011 were perfectly timed. You look at the tracks they've raced at so far this year, and they're in trouble at every style of tracks we'll visit with the exception of road courses. I think with Hendrick chassis and motors you can rule out the car. I think it comes down to CC's and driver pairings and I think that's the issue. Addington has zero adjustability built in to the car. That car unloads slow, it leaves slow. If it unloads fast look out. Newman and Borland are reunited, but I think the magic is long gone and it was wishful thinking to try it again. As far as Danica and Gibson, it's going better then I thought it would but it's still bad but not much you can do about it.

Tony was leading the points heading into the Chase his first year with SHR. But I don't think he's run all that well since the beginning of last season. I think Darian Grubb was more important to the whole organization than what many believe. I keep wondering how much longer Addington will last as Stewart's crew chief.

Tony is a streak driver and the converation and his results could do a 180 before the season is completed.
But Tony and a few others are over 40, and his lack of conditioning only leaves him 2 or 3 more years to be a title contender. The clocks tics...

Grubb+stewart=wins...Addington I wonder about. Newman got a new crew chief Matt Borland, and he is running 16, the best for Stewart Haas. Not great but only 16 points out of the chase compared to Tony's 38 points out of the chase.

one thing to consider is grubb likely had alot better working relationship with the hendrick guys, seeing as he was a hendrick CC and even car chief of the 48 at one time. I am surpised SHR hasn't just said put whatever the 48 has under it in our cars. one thing that is clear is tony is frustrated because he is lashing out at other drivers, not that he hasn't before at time but he seems consistently pissed off.

In many cases one mans set up is anothers poison

It has been pretty easy to blame Addington , but at the time the decision was made ,it looked like a pretty good deal . Tony was mad at Grubb for their poor performance and Addington was a great free agent crew chief who was available . Since then , Grubb won the cup with Tony ,and he has done quite well at Gibbs . Hindsight is twenty / twenty . Fact is , both Tony and Ryan are quite good at diagnosing what is wrong with a car and relaying what the car needs to the crew chief . It appears that the speed just hasn't been there .They may be using Hendrick engines but they are using Stewart/Haas cars.

Another 2013 unexpected result:
1. Tony is the biggest pouting drama queen.
2. Newman a distant 2nd.
3. Danica the mild mannered quieter member.

I doubt that set ups are for sale .

they share info especially since not only are they running hendrick motors but also hendrick chassis. I am pretty sure SHR hangs its own bodies. as for setups when your 25th on the practice chart and your teammate is 5th sometimes drivers just go with what the other guy has and tries to adapt to it. jimmie I know has done this with a 24 car setup before.

Jimmie has the gift, simular to Jim Clark in the 60's. The absolute master of slip angle control through control manipulation. AND it pisses me off :D

watch Hornish..the absolute opposite on plate tracks, you will feel better. :) so glad he isn't in the race today. I think Tony will do well today, he is usually up at the front at the end on plate tracks.

I think he beat Hendrick to many times last year and they started giving him junk to race with. It's the downside of buying verses building. If not that then maybe the whole team is spending too time playing with Danica. Newman sucks and Danica sucks so I don't know why he wants Harvick there to suck as well. Sponsership dollars will be hard to come by. It's beginning to look like Ricky Rudd all over. He'll get worse every year due to lack of money.

Hey Ricky , welcome to the forum . The Stewart Hass program has never really gotten on track ,in my mind. The exception was the incredible chase luck he had year before last , but he wasn't running real well before that .Ryan and Danica are not the problem , nor are Hendrick engines . They need to learn this new car and are putting a full time testing team on the road to come up with some ideas . If this works out , all three teams will improve .Tony is still a guy that can attract sponsors .

Looks like SHR is working on getting Back to the Future.

I think a Flux Capacitor would be a really bold move. It may be exactly what this team needs right about now.

What is wrong with Stewart-Haas? Judging by the success of her ex-Indycar team (the are tearing it up since she left), I'd say the problem is too much focus on a driver that isn't worth anything besides the money she brings.

The media puts the extra focus on her. The organization itself im sure is more concerned about getting Tony and Ryan to a championship right now over Danica since shes a developing driver. Maybe a mistake to take it to a 3 car team, but thats not Danicas fault.

And , you failed to mention that she's a GIRL.
