See if this make sense to you?

NEW YORK -- Ron Artest of the Indiana Pacers was fined $10,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for making an obscene gesture during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals against Detroit.

Anthony Peeler of the Kings was fined and suspended 2 games for throwing an elbow at Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves in a playoff game a week or so ago.

Karl Malone of the Lakers is fined $7,500 and not suspended at all for intentionally throwing an elbow into the neck of a 6'1" Timberwolves guard that sent the guy to the ground gasping for air. This happened with less than 3 minutes to go in a blowout victory by the Wolves. Malone was immediately ejected from the game for the insignificant 2+ minutes left in the blowout.

So in effect...

Malone is fined a lousy $7,500 bucks for intentionally nailing a guy in the throat.

Anthony Peeler is fined and suspended 2 games for basically doing the same thing, albeit a little more flagrantly than Malone did.

Ron Artest is fined $10,000 for flipping of no one in particular after he scored and was fouled on the play. He had been getting fouled often in the game without them being called. He finally makes a basket, gets fouled again without it being called and out of frustration flips off nobody in particular as he ran back up the court.

but the NBA is not biased toward the larger market Lakers and Pistons

right ;)

I don't think its the Teams but certain players, I was watching the incident with Peeler and Garnett. They both were in the wrong, Peeler just got caught. Malone is playing a little dirtier now that he's with the Lakers if you ask me. But Carl is gonna end up in the Hall of Fame and of course there's not much the leagues gonna do to him. I didn't see the incident with Artest, but at one time he had a Bad Boy attitude in Chi town that got him in trouble with the league so I guess they still look at him that way.

This is FLIPPIN nonsense!

The funny thing is, almost every year around this time I get disgusted with the NBA and their "big market bias" and I usually end up not even watching the end of the playoffs.

I had really pretty much quit watching the NBA at all until the Cavaliers drafted Lebron James. Every time I get away they pull me back in then tick me off again.

It's not just now that Karl is a laker that he is dirty. He has always been one of the dirtiest players in the game, along with his former teammate Stockton.

I hate the way the media shoves the lakers down our throats, the same way the throw tiger woods down our throats.

There are alot of great player in the NBA, PGA, NASCAR that we don't see enough of.

I went to a hockey game and a basketball game broke out!

I stopped watching when they made dribbling the ball optional.

Dribbling in the NBA... Isn't it only once per possession? LOL

That sums it up right there  When he was with Utah I really didn't pay much attention to him at least until the finals.
