The three juveniles, accused of shooting 14 cats over the weekend in Afton, were taken into custody Thursday morning following a brief court appearance.

The juveniles will be held in juvenile detention until a court hearing on Monday, February 28th.

Robin Quillen, Director of Ferral Friends of Greene County, was caring for the cats.

According to Quillen, the juveniles drove up to her property and fired shots at the cats from their vehicle.

12 of the 14 cats either were killed or were euthanized due to their injuries.

The other two are still receiving care.

The investigation is continuing by the Greene County Sheriff's Department.

Have you ever heard cats mating? One woman had more than 14 cats romping around on her property? I'm betting the neighbors aren't complaining she now has 14 less.

I have a cat myself, a 5 year old Siamese who I love very much. IF anyone ever hurts her like these boys had, I would kick some serious asses. I wouldn't care if they're minors, someone obviously should've kicked their asses a long time ago.
 
We have a cat problem around here. Neighbors cats are using my herb and flower gardens as a cat box. I've notified the neighbors that I will trap their cats and have them impounded if they do not keep their cats off of my property. The cats have also sprayed my front screen door so that when I open the door for fresh air I get fresh ammonia instead. They've also sprayed the rims and tires of one of my trucks. A few years back one of them got inside my truck and sprayed the(metal) kick panel, I had to repaint the kick panel to get rid of the smell.
There are no species of mice indigenous to my area so I have no use for cats. Moreover, I have zero tolerance for irresponsible pet owners. There's no reason for someone to have 14 cats. There's no reason that I or anyone else should have their property damaged or invaded by someone else's pets.
I'm not condoning what those juveniles did. Certainly there were other options than to shoot the cats.

The three boys did not live close to the cats.

Our drunken neighbor allows his dogs, cats, chickens and goats to roam. I have had war with him.
75 chickens in my yard at one time.
 
A kid that mistreats a animal will graduate to mistreating humans.
My Texas cousin would say "they need killin' " and I wholeheartedly agree.
 
I have numerous cats. If someone comes to my property and shoots them, I will shoot back.
 
I'm not a cat person but no animal cruelty is justified

what kind of property does ms quillen have? it's not surprising to me that a director of ferral friends would care for cats on a temporary basis. hmm, don't know that either. <g> the boys are 16 years old. 6-12 months in reform school followed by 3 years probation.
