What kind of person does this?

Just another mean freakin dumbass.

Hopefully this one gets life.
Monday morning, the Dallas mother who confessed to gluing her toddler to the wall then beating her as potty training punishment faces a judge.
23-year-old Elizabeth Escalona could spend the rest of her life in prison.
Doctors say the torture that the 2-year-old endured at the hands of her mom put her in a coma for several days. The doctor who saved the toddler's life is testifying why her mom should spend the rest of her life behind bars.
"The entire picture was very shocking. I see a lot of children. This was one of the worst, shocking cases that I've seen," said Dr. Amy Barton, a former pediatrician at Children’s Medical Center.
Barton fought back tears while testifying. It's been more than a year since she first saw 2-year-old Joselyn Cedillo in intensive care. She says the toddler was brought into the emergency room on September 7, 2011 with extensive bruising. The little girl was clinging to life.
"The child was brought in by a private vehicle with extensive trauma. It looked like the child had been abused and wasn't sure the child was going to make it. She had bruising on her belly," said Barton.
Barton also showed pictures of the little girl's injuries during the sentencing hearing.
Police say Escalona was so mad that her daughter soiled her pants, as punishment, she super glued the girl’s hands to the wall then beat her in front of her other siblings.
Escalona’s kids told investigators their mother kicked the girl in the stomach and repeatedly hit her.
The girl did recover after the beating in September 2011, and the state took custody of her and Escalona’s other kids.
Escalona did plead guilty to First Degree Injury to a Child for the potty training punishment. Now, the judge could sentence Escalona from 5 years to life in prison.

I just don't understand how a person could intentionally hurt their own children like this. I believe in spanking your children, but even then you need to be very careful in how you do it. I had a hard time even spanking them when they deserved it, I can't imagine doing something like this. I don't know how long she needs to go to prison for, but it's a really long time. If you are capable of doing this to your own child, what are you capable of doing to someone else?

Same with guys who beat women Ben 1. In the past year or so a guy shook his baby to death, another got caught sexaully assulting his 2 yo daughter, another raped a 70+ yo who had lost her legs. Now they're all low lifes but recently a police chief was convicted of stealing $700 from a girl who worked as a stripper, another cop kicked a women in the head as she sat cuffed sitting on the ground. My daughter recently testified against a guy who threw a 3 month old puppy off a 3rd floor balcony twice for peeing on the floor. He's now doing 3-5 years.
The world is going crazy.

DALLAS (AP) - The mother of a Dallas woman who admitted beating her 2-year-old daughter and gluing her hands to a wall has asked a judge for leniency.
Elizabeth Escalona faces up to life in prison after pleading guilty in July to attacking daughter Jocelyn Cedillo last September.
Police say the 23-year-old mother kicked the girl in the stomach repeatedly and hit her with various objects before gluing her hands to the wall due to potty training problems.
Before resting their case Tuesday, prosecutors completed their questioning of Escalona's mother, Ofelia Escalona. She tearfully asked the judge for leniency in sentencing her daughter.
Ofeila Escalona said her daughter "made a mistake. She's not a monster. She needs help."
She asked the judge to sentence her daughter to probation.
A doctor testified Monday that Jocelyn was in a coma for about two days and hospitalized for about one week because of injuries that included bleeding on her brain.

I love the quote "she made a mistake..."

Actully she didn't "make a mistake". A mistake is something you didn't do on purpose, or didn't mean to do. She meant to do everything she did to that child. It sounds like they should throw her in prison and "make a mistake" when it comes to remembering to let her out. Now she wants leniency? Probation? Are you kidding me? They should show her even less mercy than she showed her daughter.

JUSTICE
A judge on Friday sentenced Elizabeth Escalona to 99 years for abusing her 2-year-old daughter.
Escalona, who in July pleaded guilty to injury to a child, beat the girl and glued her hands to a wall.
Escalona said the September 2011 incident happened, in part, because she was frustrated about potting training issues.
The child remained in a coma for two days before she and her siblings were placed in protective custody.

These stories just keep coming?
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Southeast Texas authorities say a 10-year-old boy shot and wounded his 15-year-old sister before fatally shooting himself.
Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae said Friday that the boy walked into his sister's room and fired several times in her direction before turning the gun on himself.
McRae says their mother was at home at the time and called 911 after hearing the shots and going to see what happened.
The siblings were taken by helicopter to a Houston hospital about 70 miles to the south. The boy was pronounced dead. His sister underwent surgery.
McRae says she was listed Friday in critical but stable condition.
He says the case remains under investigation.
