What next for Paul Tracy?

Assuming PT wins the 2003 CWS which is looking increasingly likely where will he go next? A ride in F1 perhaps? Id hope and imagine so, or do u think hed make the switch to the IRL instead? Id say F1 would pose more of a challenge for him, but I cant see him going unless hed be in a half decent team, maybe BAR or a Jordan. Perhaps its a bit too early to be thinking about this, but it is intrueging, for me at least. Ive only followed CART for the last 2 years and dont know PT that well. Has he ever expressed any aspirations to move to F1 one day? Or is he happy racing in CART?

Your thoughts please.

PT will never go to F-1 for many reasons.

First he already has his chance somewhat back in 1994 I believe. He tested and had a rather crude contract presented but denied it.

Secondly he is rather old. Granted there have been succesful people his age, but with so many good young talent coming up (Massa, Piquet Jr., Rosberg and how many more) few would be willing to make such an 'old' gamble. Hard habits are tricky to fix...Paul's been doing his for years, it would be harder to make him adapt and change his style if need be versus a 22 eyar old.

Third he really hasnt proved anything. This years talent is low compared to the last few years. No Brack, Neves, da Matta, Andretti etc. etc.

Forth, Im not sure F-1 wants another JV as far as attitude goes B)

Fifth who would take him or where would he go? He doesnt have the coin to buy a ride with Minardi (even if he did why would he), Toyota has its '04 line-up, Sauber wouldnt be interested as they already have a few young guns coming up (ala Kimi and Massa), BAR is full with talent in the wings (Sato, Manning), Jordan needs either a pay driver or someone to attract sponsors, PT wont do that over there, and all the teams Paul would consider, Renualt, Ferrari, McLaren, Williams etc. already have what they are happy with, wouldnt put up with Paul's personality and simply wouldnt think twice on signing him.

Paul stays with CART until he retires or decides to race IRL or NASCAR.

PT will never run the IRL! He has said that himself. Thats why he did not move with Andretti Green to the IRL!

Sadly it sounds like PT will be joining the ranks of NASCAR in the #30 AOl chevy! I hope that does nto turn out and he stays in CART!

Paul Tracy is going to be driving in Nascar Nextel Series in 2004 and the IndyCar Series in 2004 if Richard Childress buys his contract out from Cart Team Players/Fortsythe

I hope he stays in CART cauz he's a very good racer to watch.

CART is going to fold in couple years becuase their isnt any big name sponser it anymore since FedEX droped out

Bridgestone and Ford aren't big sponsors????

CARt is now "Bridgestone Presents the Cart world series powered by Ford"

He's very welcome to come to Oz and drive in our V8 Supercar series...he would fit in extreamly well! :D Lucky I'm going to the Gold Coast race this year before it does go under :( Should be a blaaaast...

Any of you guys coming Down Under for it??? Would be a great holiday if the weather is much better then last year and it should be. :)

Talk about those supercars! Man I watched every race I could last year on Speed, and they put on a great show!!! Some amazing crashes, and I guess I need to brush up on their names, becase I cannot remember any at the moment. Been a year since I saw a race. Has their season started yet?

Yeah they are heading towards the end of the season. Marcos Ambrose is kicking some Holden butt, which is great to finally see! To see Ford heading for a championship win is a great sight indeed! I'm going to the great Bathurst race this year, which is just before INDY. I dunno what you get on TV over there but the V8's will once again be the show opener for INDY, so you might be lucky enough to get to see that race?

I'm surprised with the amount of TV channels you guys get that you don't have one that shows all V8 races, they are said to be the best touring series in the world! :) :D

I woudnt know about the best touring car series in the world. The BTCC is probably the strongest, both in terms of driver talent and factory teams. After all the BTCC does have, Vauxall, MG, Proton, Honda, all entered as factory teams. :p Cant say Im a big fan of V8 Supercars though Im afraid. More of a ETCC, and DTM fan myself. Man those DTM machines are waaaaaaay faster than any other touring car series.

But then Im a sportscar can really, touring cars are okay. But at the end of the day they are touring cars. And are relitvly slow in comparisson. What would u rather see? A Vauxall Astra racing head to head with a Honda Civic, or a Ferrari 550 and Corvette C5R? ;)

Paul Tracy is staying in CART until it folds and probably move to IRL with RCR

CART isnt going to fold. The series has gotton stronger this year. Okay so in the USA its gotton weaker, but across Europe and the rest of the world its gotton stronger. Several times this year we have had Live coverage of CART, and 1hr full delayed coverage. CART is a World series, IRL is just national. Okay so IRL is bigger in the USA than CART, but worldwide CART is bigger than the IRL thats for sure. And at the end of the day thats what counts, the world. The USA aint bigger than the world lol. :p

cart and Irl should merge have the same amount of races as nascar. Also more manufacturers and different type of tracks. I think popularity would be doubled.

Not gonna happen. I think we have all noticed this year, the measures CART has taken to cut costs and cut corners to get these rookie teams out of nowhere to join. Adding races will not happen. In fact, CART is cutting the 2004 schedule down, something like 5 or 6 races, so they have 17 GP's. I doubt the two will ever merge, and although CART is more popular in Europe as Saleen said, they will eventually die off in the states and become a type of F1 feeder series. Lol, maybe not quite that drastic, but F1 has gained major popularity with Nascar fans with the Jeff Gordon stunt, plus by far the closest championship in auto racing this year. 1 point is what we are talking about, anyone want to argue?

Really Bebi? Living in the UK and not knowing squat about Nascar I didnt take much notice of the event, although I understand that JPM drove Jeff Gordons Nascar machine, and then Jeff drove his Willams F1 machine, right? I forget the track that this happened at but I didnt think it would get noticed really to be honest with u.

Nice to see that F1 is BEGINNING to pick up pace in the USA, it is, isnt it? ^_^

Well most of our commercials here advertising the upcoming US GP has Mr. Jeff Gordon saying how much he enjoyed his ride. To me it was a huge publicity stunt. Yes F1, is slowly gaining popularity here in the states with the really good racing we have had this year. The swap rides session, that JPM, and Gordon did was replayed a million times and also talked alot about in Nascar Pre-race. So when those millions of Nascar fans see an F1 car, I am sure many of them couldnt help but take a peek at what the hoop la was about. And hopefully the race they ended up watching was a good one!

cart aint gonna fold any time soon :D not with its soon to be new owners and some possible deals its got in the wings
George probably had his best chance to absorb cart yet squandered that too...
