Is this a real racing forum?? ANd no discussion from the Dale Jarrett camp followers on who did what to who and why did he do that to my guy ???

Seems there was a bit of a tussle between Jarrett trying to keep from losing a second lap and Gordon keeping ahead of the other cars trying to chase him down. First there was the little bump from Gordon to let Jarrett know to quit blocking. Since there was no harm with the bump, there was no foul. But the camera sez, Jarrett didn't appreciate the tap and as Gordon began to pass, turned into him. Three times no less !!!!!! That'll teach the upstart !!!!

Gordon kept on keeping on, waited until his front tire was away from Jarrett's sheet metal and SLAMMED into the side of Jarrett. There, that'll teach the smart a$$ !!!!

And who came out the winner??? Jarrett finished 18th, two laps down and Gordon, 33rd, seven laps off the pace. Neither one was a winner but both deserve some sort of prize for the pi$$in' contest. ;)

Frustration...

Too bad these guys feel the need to ram someone out ot the way though.

Not absolutely sure, but at that point I believe Jarrett was still on the lead lap. A point which is really irrelevent.

Most assuredly some aggression on both drivers part during that little soiree. Equally sure that at the time both felt the other done him wrong first. Interestingly, near as I've seen, not one mention of the incident in Jeff's post race quotes and no post race quotes from Jarrett at all.

I have no problem with it. Hard nosed racing from a couple of vets and both escaped relatively unscathed.

they are both big babys who think the world should move out of the way for them serves them both right

I know i know comming from a DE fan.....

just couldn't resist stirrin the pot

I am a diehard Gordon fan, but most of all I am race fan and if it was not a little bumping and grinding I can tell you I would not pay my money to see racing nor would I be watching it on TV. I don't care who was driving. That's what it is all about. One of the best races I have seen in a long time even if Jeff came in 33rd. The finish was fantastic. Thank goodness Busch did not win. I was pulling for Ricky all the way. I can not believe I just said that. , but hey if Jeff can't win I will put for anybody but Kurt. Well, I guess everybody now knows how I feel about Kurt...I don't know what it is maybe someone can enlighten me on my feelings for him. :(

Oh it happens, when a young kid comes in and starts winning tons of races, they are bound to upset a few fans. Kinda like Gordon did when he came into this league.

I think the finish of this race kinda overshadowed that incident. I know I had forgotten about that until I read this thread. I do think this was just good hard racing though. I loved it.

I don't really know who was at fault. I don't think the cameras caught the whole incident. I tell you what I like to see though. I see DJ with a little more fire in his belly than in years past. At Las Vegas when He and Park got together and DJ gave Park the bird. I was totally shocked. The deal this weekend with Gordan. I don't know if it is a good thing or not but it makes watching him more fun. :D

I definitely thought Dale should have moved out of the way. The leader has to be given a certain amount of respect by lapped traffic. But then, I am a Jeff Gordon fan. But, I am also a Dale Jarrett fan. Both good guys who just got a little hot under the collar. It happens. Rubbin' is racin'. That's what I love about these shorter tracks. A guy like Kenseth gets all of that damage and he is not automoatically out of any contention like he would be at say Atlanta, Charlotte, Daytona, 'Dega, etc.

"Anybody but Busch"? :) I love it!Couldn't be because Kurt took the FORMER wonder boy to driving school could it?

I loved the move Busch put on Gordon and Sadler,in case you couldnt tell!

DJ and 3 other drivers got caught having pitted in that caution that preceeded the restart and those same drivers started ahead of the leaders for the restart to try to get their lap back (I dont alltogether understand that rule) DJ badly wanted back in the lead lap and Jeff badly wanted to make sure he didn't get there, especially after the hit DJ gave him. DJ was careful to make the move in the straightaway where he knew he could be more agressive without causing a wreck, he knew Gordon was a good enough driver to take what he dished out and I'll bet they had some fun deciding who would get what out of that deal. I didnt see any cheap shots just good hard racing. MANY laps went by before Gordon had troubles of his own on the track. I could hardly believe it when Waltrip said DJ may have caused those Gordon woes. :(

Someone may have already said this but i will speak my peace. Im not a fan of either but I think that Dale Jarrett is probably the classiest guy (when interviewed or out of the car). But I do feel like he cost Gordon the win by RUBBIN him down the straight away like he did. Thats just my opinion though.

I think that it was a Yates driver that cost Gordon the win but that would be Elliott Sadler in my opinion. By staying with Jeff and forcing him to run hard and defensively both drivers used up their tires. That was the downfall of both drivers in the closing laps. Elliott came out of it in better shape but he also was not quite so aggressive once he and Jeff got passed by Busch. Gordon was trying with all his might to keep cars behind him while Elliott was picking and choosing who he was giving up spots to.
