What race would you go to?

If you could attend any race in the world (NASCAR, IRL, F1, etc), regardless of time/money/travel what would it be?

For me, I think it would be a close call between the Bristol night race and the Grand Prix of Monaco.

I think Monaco gets the slight edge just because it's less about the race, and more about the specticle. It would be the sort of thing I'd attend once just to say I was there, and never feel the need to go back. I think the racing sucks, but the area and night life are amazing. Plus there's an exotic car show in Casino Square the Thursday before the event. If we were talking about NASCAR on the streets of Monaco I'd be all over it like white on rice.

My father actually was offered tickets through American Express to go this year. Funny, because he's a diehard NFL fan, and doesn't know anything about racing. Tickets were $6,800 each for 3 days. Hotel and airfare included. All hotel rooms were manditory double occupency. Included was a private meeting with the drivers the Friday before the race.

Bristol would be a race that I could attend every year, just for the racing. Honorable mentions would be the Daytona 500 and Indy 500.

I'd like to go to the Daytona 500 just because. The only other NASCAR tracks I'd like to see a race at are Dover and Richmond.

The top of my list would be hit some of the crown jewels of dirt late model racing. I'd like to go to the Show Me 100, East Bay for the Winternationals, Cedar Lake, and Columbus (MS).

Local tracks: Thunder Road, Bowman Gray Stadium modifieds:beerbang:

National races: NHRA Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville, NASCAR at Bristol, ARCA at Springfield/DoQuoin, Grand-Am Sports Car Series at New Jersey.

F1 --- Monaco, without a doubt.

I've been to races at all the NASCAR tracks on my "must see" list. Daytona, Bristol, Dover, Atlanta, Talladega, Charlotte, Darlington, Indy
Well, I did miss 2 tracks on my list --- Wilkesboro and The Rock. :(

Outlaws --- I want to see Williams Grove, Eldora, and Knoxville

Drag racing --- Pamona and Gainesville

I've actually got a short list of races that all fans should attend once in their lives:

World 100 (Eldora)
Chili Bowl (Tulsa)
Oswego Classic (Oswego, NY)
Daytono 500
Indy 500
Knoxville Nationals
Grand Prix of Monaco
Little 500 (not the bicycle race, but the 500 lap sprint car race at Anderson Speedway)

Of these, I've only been to one.

Thanks, VaDirt, I couldn't remember the Chili Bowl. The Golden Driller!

Every Na$car fan owes it to themself to go to Daytona at least once.:beerbang:

No brainer for me, the Chili Bowl. Daytona is way over rated. Bristol, Darlington and Dega are among my favorites.

Ohhhh!! Good list!

It's like a race fan's "bucket list."

Bristol Speedweek has become quite the neat race week. With the addition of the Mods, to me a short week of door slamming action. To me, it deserves a holiday race weekend, like Labor day.

I've thought and thought about this one and still can't come up with just one race. There are several that I want to see at least once (NASCAR) but I'd love to see Monaco just because of where it is. I'd love to witness the Indy 500 at least once. Dega, Darlington too. I even would love to watch a race at Indianapolis Raceway Park, or ORP as it is now. Boat racing is great too and I would love to at least see one of those swamp races. How deep is that Sippi Hole? Maybe the Winter Nationals in the NHRA. Choices, choices, choices?

I'd like to go to the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway, Speedfest at Lanier National Speedway and the Polar Bear 150 at Rockingham Speedway.

My bucket list

Before I die, I'd like to visit a racetrack in every state on the mainland.

In no particular order

Bristol Night Race
Daytona Speedweeks (including the 24 hour race)
Indianapolis Raceway Park (both NHRA and the oval)
Bowman Gray Stadium (modifieds)
Thunder Road
Gainesville (Gatornationals)
St. Petersburg Grand Prix
Englishtown (NHRA Supernationals)
Charlotte Drag Strip 4 lanes :growl:
Five Flags - Snowball Derby
Knoxville Nationals
Hickory Motor Speedway
Lanier National Speedway
Mansfield, Ohio
Nashville Fairgrounds
Toledo Speedway, OH
ARCA at Springfield or DuQuoin
Winchester Speedway, IN
Kalamazoo Speedway, MI
Eldora
Irwindale
Darlington

Closed tracks I'd like to visit if/when they reopen:

Southern National Raceway Park (NC)
North Wilkesboro Speedway
Southampton Motor Speedway (VA)
St. Augustine Speedway (FL)

Tracks I've been to and would recommend others visit:

> Rockingham Speedway - I think every race fan on the east coast should try to make it a point to visit Rockingham at least once.
> Maryland International Raceway dragstrip - lightning fast track
> Langley Speedway - great racing, great car counts, awesome fans, awesome drivers, friendly track staff, awesome facilities, reasonable concession prices (just the opposite of my local paved oval track:()
> Potomac Speedway - old school racing at it's best.
> Charlotte County Motorsports Park - this was my home track growing up
> Richmond
> Dover

Any

Given the opportunity to watch a race in Nascar, would be the greatest!!!
ANY RACE.

Australian Grand Prix would have to be it.

Australia is a beautiful country and they speak a form of english over there so I would have a chance to communicate with the locals.

Besides that, I think F1 would be great to watch live.

That's an interesting one. Most people that want to go to an F1 race say Monaco is it.

What did you think of the twilight race they did this year at the Aussie GP?

I didn't see it. I don't follow F1 much, I mostly just catch it when I happen to see a race on the guide. But, I do like road courses a lot more than ovals and F1's technology is just incredible. Plus, I like Ferrari a lot and they tend to win quite regularly.

I really liked the Singapore race from last year. Those cars are much more amazing at dark.

I did too. Looking forward to the Singapore race again this year. Hopefully F1 will do more night races.

I didn't care for the Aussie GP this year. It was the first race ever run at sunset, but they did it to give the fans in Europe a better start time for the event. Same thing with the Malaysian GP, despite the high chance of severe rain storms.

I've already been to alot of different types of races from NASCAR to IndyCars to NHRA & Monster Trucks but still some races are difficult to get tickets & very expensive. With that i'd have to say the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco. I'm not just a NASCAR fan but a fan of racing in general & the Monaco Grand Prix is a very prestigous race thats very hard hard to get, I mean I know tickets to Bristol are tough too but most people can at least drive to the track & stand outside by the souvenier trucks. Monaco on the other hand is expensive to fly to, get a room, & tickets it's in the thousands of dollars. That's where I would go if it were all free...
