The idea of these "What We Like About..." threads is to challenge the members of this forum to find the positve attributes of each of the drivers.

This is intended to be POSITIVE thoughts on the driver ONLY.

Alright... Let's do one more that should be pretty easy before we tackle some challanges.

Let's here what you like about Kyle Petty.

To devote that much of your life to helping other less fortunate makes him one the most selfless people I've ever seen.

I fixed the misspelling, Patrick. Hope that's OK.

I will remember Kyle as a Renaisance man --- a man of many talents. He may not be as gifted a driver as others, but his unselfish giving of his life to help children makes him a big winner in my book.

Kyle does so much to bring positive attention to the sport as well as his seemingly bottomless giving to the less fortunate.
I really like his sense of humor and think Kyle is one that doesn't take himself to seriously.

Actually, Kyle was a pretty fair driver early in his career. I remember especially one of the early and absolutely best Winston races where along wiith Davey Allison he drove a great race.

Kyle is what a role model for kids should be.

Kyle is a kind, generous man, devoted to his family as well as the VJC. He has made something positive out of tragedy. AND he rides a bike! :) :beerbang: :)

A driver with a legacy that no other driver, past, present or, (in my opinion) future, will ever have...........the Victory Junction Gang.

And I'm not even sure my memory is correct on this. But every time I see an interview or commercial with Kyle I think of the Mellow Yellow soft drink sponsored car..........and that silly song that was popular about the same time!! :)

Kyle Petty is a

driver who had to face the pressures early on of being the "son of "The King", Richard Petty" and was expected to produce the same results. Kyle handled it well.

Kyle speaks his mind in such a way he keeps old friends and makes new ones.

Kyle is Frank Sinatra's famous song, "I'll Do It My Way". He did and he does.

Kyle has, as someone has already pointed out, made a tragedy into a legacy for others less fortunate.

Kyle is the kind of guy other kids should try to emulate.

Kyle has all the credentials to be the senior spokesperson in the garage.

Kyle, despite his losses, has risen above the hurt and shown he is just what you see, a "down to earth" person with feelings, humility, pride and a giving nature.

For a man who has lost so much so quickly, it amazes me to see his wonderful smile pop up everytime he's on camera without fail. It really puts things into perspective when he smiles after a DNF, top 40 finish or a DNQ and some drivers can't muster a little bit of happiness after finishing in the top 5. As Whizzer said, to be the son of "the King" there was probably more pressure on him than any other driver and he has handled it well, in spite of tragedy, he presses on and uses his career to better the lives of others. I'll never forget watching qualifying back in 2003 with my dad, watching the stupid little "pace light" thing. When Kyle started his laps it went green...waaay green, the announcers, myself and my father got really fired up about this only to realize that the pace light was screwed up. There is no one on the track that I would love to see win or run up front more than Kyle Petty...in the face of adversity, with less to smile about than others, he is able to muster more happiness and excitement about racing than I would believe to possible.

There are so many good things to say about him, but one of the biggest is how he and his wife started the VJG and how he does so much for everyone else and just is a wonderful person.

It's kind of hard to add to what's already said about Kyle, but here's something that people not from this part of the woods might know. Kyle has always been very very available for the local media in any way. I think that might be a family trait, but they, the Pettys, always seem to have time for everyone.

That terrific "Petty" attitude; never give up; always smile!!!!
I will always admire him and his VJGC and all it stands for and being part of his dream. He is making it come true for soooooooooo many unfortunate kids.
He is, indeed, a great role model!!!!!

Kyle give so much of himself not only to the sport, but to humanity. I admire and respect him for the kind of guy he is. I also agree with dragonlady about Kyle geing a role model; there are a lot of athletes out there who could learn from watching him!!

From darkest tragedy to greatest triumph.....all with a shy smile and deep humility. His greatest accomplishment was for humanity not for racing.

I respect and admire Kyle Petty more than anyone in the sport, maybe even the sporting world.

He has lost more than most people could even imagine. And while it obviously hurt him deeply he kept on going. I don't believe he kept on racing for himself, but for the many people in his organization that depend on him and the millions of fans he has around the world. While he is often mentioned as "riding on his daddy's coattails" I can't imagine a much better set of coattails to ride on. His dad was one of the best, if not the best driver NASCAR has ever seen and a gentleman to boot.

When Adam died, most people would have went into a shell and became bitter and withdrawn. Instead Kyle decided that the Victory Junction Gang Camp would be a good place to put his energy and a fitting tribute to his son.

Kyle Petty is a man in every sense of the word.

Kyle is not ashame to admit that he is a Christian. He puts God first in his life. He has been thru so much and still gives much of his time to help others. He is a strong man. I don't think I could go on if anything happen to my son. GOD BLESS YOU KYLE!

Kyle has "worn it well" almost regardless of what the "it" was.

He has managed to remain an individual while maintaining the history and tradition of his family.

He has turned a personnel tragedy into a great service to children and he's also managed to involve so many others as well.

Thanks for all those nice things said about Kyle!
Everything that was said is exactly why I am a Kyle Petty Fan!

Kyle is possibly the nicest guy in NASCAR, he is well liked by just about eveyone and nobody would mind finishing 2nd to Kyle, and I hope we will see that in 2005
