Here's a guy who.........
make a nearly fatal career mistake, admitted it and took his punishment.
Driving and listening to the radio the other day, a public service announcement was made on drinking and driving. The spokesperson was Scott Wimmer. It was an impressive announcement and Wimmer sounded genuinely sincere.
Scott Wimmer made a mistake by drinking and driving. He is a young man who should have known better but before anyone gets critical of his actions, this question must be asked.
Is there anyone reading this who has not done something stupid that could have resulted in a career ending or reputation damaging move?
Scott Wimmer did. He was driving while drinking, involved in an accident and left the scene. Two very serious charges. Wimmer got his day in court, was punished according to the laws of the State of North Carolina (no favoritism) and is now making public service announcements on driving and drinking, plus appearing at schools across the state telling his story.
Scott Wimmer matured ten years within twenty-four hours of the incident, faced up to the charges and gives every appearance of being 110% serious in his effort to make things right.
He deserves credit for his driving and not being intimidated by the "big boys' in the Nextel NASCAR Cup Series. He has had several good runs and is improving every race. Scott Wimmer will be in the Nextel NASCAR Cup Series for many years to come and will be a threat to win many races while posting a list of top five and ten finishes.
Will these guys from Wisconsin ever quit coming south ??? SHEESH !!!!!!!!
