Thought I'd start a little thread about theories or "what if" scenarios.

A friend and I were just talking about hockey and football and I was talking about that the advantage of going to a live sport event is no TV commercials except there are still "TV timeouts" during hockey and football games. And then I was joking about what if racing had "TV timeouts" too, what would they do? slow down as if it was a caution lap and then start again when commercials are over?

I sincerely hope that NEVER happens.
 
No, that would disrupt the flow of the race terribly.

NASCAR can use a halftime break though and it would work in my opinion.

Sort of like they already do in the All Star Race. 10-15 minutes to catch your breath, analyse the situation or work on your car and so on.

Just curious though..... Did that ever grow back?

Easiest thing do would be timed cautions. But it should never happen.. Nascar will never be commercial free, and honestly, the other sports need those tv timeouts.. Imagine pro football without a halftime or little breaks? Someone would get killed.

What if Sponsors in NASCAR we're not needed at all? I mean say a team could designate their own team colors, and the sport would be financially okay without sponsors. Teams could fund their programs and get the best drivers/ equipment available.
 
Nascar isn't roller derby . We don't need any more stoppages in play . No trained dogs , no jumping through fire , no dancin girls , just racin . (well maybe dancin girls ) ...but it's Nascar "Racing" , the product is "Racing " , not stopping .
