whats the smallest lead a champion has ever won by

had anyone ever won the championship by like 5 points before???
 
Correct me if I'm wrong HS, but in 1988 Elliot beat Rusty by 4 points.
 
and allen kawiki beat bill by 10 points in 92

in 79 richard just beat Darrell but don't remember by how much
 
Yep 1988 by 4 points.

the margin in 1979 was 11 points.

!992 not only had the 10 point margin for AK, but Alan, Bill and Davey all had a very realistic shot at the title going into the final race..

This year might not beat the 4 point deal, but certainly has the makings of going down to the final race with the crown on the line!:)
 
but man that has to suck for a driver to loose at the last race maybe cause of a problem with the engine
