No Bill Weber in the TNT booth UPDATE no Daytona? TNT will not have Bill Weber in the booth for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 today at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, according to a TNT spokesman. “Bill Weber will not be part of TNT's NASCAR coverage of the Cup Series from New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend,” said a company statement released by senior vice president Sal Petruzzi. “As this is a private issue, it’s the policy of the company not to discuss personal matters involving our employees.” Ralph Sheheen will step in for Weber on today's telecast.(SceneDaily)(6-28-2009)

UPDATE: Sport's Illustrated's/Frontstretch's Tom Bowles reported on RaceTalkRadio.com that Bill Weber will be replaced by Ralph Shaheen again at Daytona. During Monday night's "Doin' Donuts" radio show Tom Bowles from SI.com and Frontstretch.com reported that TNT will replace Bill Weber again on Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway for the broadcast of the Coke Zero 400. Fans can listen to the complete broadcast by going to the RaceTalkRadio.com homepage and listening to the archived show from last night.(6-30-2009) Comment here

Wonder what this is all about??

I found the very last post of most interest. It stated that Weber is a personal friend of Mayfield and the situation was bigger than we know. Apparently Weber was defending Mayfield in that "agrument." Makes one go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... If true, I would say it wasn't just TNT who had a hand in this suspension.

Interesting, i never really cared for Weber but if it was just about Jeremy Mayfield than maybe there is something going on. :idunno:

It's hard to put much faith in a person named Anonymous. Anyone can post anything that they would like. I think I'd wait for the official announcement from TNT or at the very least, someone that's willing to identify themselves. :beerbang:

Maybe that's where Mayfield got his Claritin-D from?????????????

There's a lot to this story or we would have already heard all the details. My guess is Weber will not be working another NASCAR race again for any network.

So tell me, did someone hide his hairspray again??? Why else would he get so mad?

I'd really like to know

what it is he did in his offf time away from broadcasting that got him fired..or whatever he got. Seems to me ones off time is his own.
Betsy:rolleyes:

Yes, it is. But from what I understand this was a loud, public confrontation in a hotel. When you're out in public, different rules would apply.

Off time I would consider when he's at home during the week. When he's in a town to broadcast a race all expenses are paid by TNT and IMHO I would think it reasonable to have certain rules of behavior for all crew members because even though you are not in the booth, you are still representing TNT.

Wasn't there something already out there that said he is good friends with Mayfield and that's what this arguement was about? If so, NASCAR will see to it he doesn't work any more of their races.

Hell there's a rumor out there that I'm young, good looking and rich too but that don't mean it's true. Just because someone wrote that and signed it anonymous certainly don't mean it's true, People that are in the know aren't talking.

People that are in the know aren't talking.

And that's what makes this so interesting --- you would think if it was public, somebody would be talking. Because there is not one word from John Q. Public, makes me think this is "in house", involving only TNT or NASCAR higher-ups.

wouldn't surprise me if the "loud argument" that keeps being mentioned was between him and one of the producers or some such guy. I remember back in the day when I was watchin the races on live feeds on the satelite, Weber was really bad about yelling, fussing and cussing at the guys in the booth, camera guys, peeps in the truck, and anybody else during the commercial breaks......... never was a big fan of his.
