I've been reading on this board for a while, this is my first post.
Very cool, laid back site.

Here is what my group of NASCAR freaks are doing with their spare time.
We got tired of looking at diecast and started racing them.
55' routed MDF 6 lane 1/32 scale slot car track
Computer timing w/photosensors in the track
Lap times are around 2.5 to 3.0 secs.

Unbelieveable realisism. More fun than R/C. Tight close door to door racing lap after lap.
Cars can be tuned and tweaked just like the big ones.

The track was very easy to build & cheap. The internet is loaded with sites that show how it's done.
Our club is up to about 20 guys, we meet once a week to race and talk about last the last weekends race.

havin' too much fun,

Certainly looks like you guys are having fun! Oh, and welcome aboard and congratulations on making your first post!

That looks completely fun!

I see the familiar blue and yellow blur of the 48 leading on that last pic! :D

Post some of those links you mentioned!

...welcome aboard!

Thanks guys.
Here are some slot sities I've found:

http://www.oldslotracer.com/

cool site with pics of some beautiful tracks.

"how to" site on track building.

here are some of the slot cars availible these days. The detail on some of these cars matches any diecast models.

I have very minimal wood working skills and the track was very easy for me to build. If you can read a rule and draw a straight line you can do it.
The whole thing cost less than $500 bucks, without all the detailing (static display cars, track figures, etc.)

Very cool. My grandmother has a slot car track in her basement. It's fun until your car flies across the room, then its really fun...
