... the Redskins really didn't get anything. Right now, their starting QB is going to be a decent second-string or higah quality third-string QB in John Beck or Rex Grossman. They traded that pick to Jacksonville, who picked up Blaine Gabbert.

Now, as Tania Ganguli writes in the Florida Times-Union, Gabbert's coming along nicely. NBC Sports says he has the potential to be the next Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. Jacksonville has called him the quarterback of the future for Jacksonville (a team that, two years ago, was destined for Los Angeles).

Now, Gabbert's starting to position himself for the top job in Jacksonville. Garrard, a quarterback who has taken the Jaguars to the playoffs in 2007, is now fighting for the starting job with Gabbert. While Garrard has a starting QB salary, as NBC states, Jacksonville Coach Del Rio is known for making brash moves. He cut Byron Leftwich in 2007 and gave the starting job to Garrard, a move that shocked the NFL world. And Del Rio is on a very hot seat -- if the Jags don't take the division or make the playoffs on a wild card, Del Rio is history.

Despite their preseason loss to New England, Gabbert looked stout.

Blaine Gabbert, another missed opportunity by Washington. Snottie must go.
