Where should NASCAR expand? New region? New track? Add a race? Essentially, where should NASCAR hold new or additional races?

The northwest has a lot of potential. Get race fans from Seattle and Vancouver. Weather might be an issue. I live 2,000 miles away so I don't know of any specific tracks that could host a race.

Build a track near Salt Lake City. Open space and few environmental hurdles. Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway?

Find an oval in Canada. Lot's of people up there in Quebec that would love to see a NASCAR race without driving 3 hours to the States.

There are way too many tracks in the south. Too much supply and not enough demand. Charlotte should be limited to one race. Maybe just one race at Martinsville? Take Homestead off the schedule.

i'm bias on this being from the south, and to me the south will always be nascar country, but i've met a lot of canadians fans that are die-hard, so if nascar went that direction i wouldn't mind at all.

Add four races. Add the two road courses in Canada(Mosport, Montreal), as well as 4 other road courses(Road America, Mid Ohio, New Jersey, Barber). Make it a straight 40 race season, no Chase. No tracks have two dates, add tracks like Iowa, Gateway, Milwaukee, Mansfield, Nashville, Memphis, South Boston(temporary expanded seating), IRP, and Rockingham. Put $$ into upgrading Bownman Gray so that Sprint Cup can race there. And finally, the one dirt track at Eldora.

40 races, 40 different tracks. Dirt, road course, short tracks, speedways, and super speedways.

Hopefully they bring at least Truck and/or Nationwide to Canadian Motor Speedway when it's completed: http://cdnmotorspeedway.com/

ISC had some interest in building a track in Oregon or Washington several years ago but nothing ever materialized. http://www.jayski.com/pages/tracks/oregon.htm

The K&N West Series races at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah but that place would need some capacity expansion to get a national series race.

I think at least Truck and/or Nationwide should also return to places like Nashville, Memphis, and IRP.

Martsinville should always have two Cup dates.

I like the idea of an oval in the northwest, also. They have the road course in Sonoma, but a lot of fans like the ovals better. I wouldn't mind seeing a few weeknight races either.

Ive been saying for years they need to build a "Bristol" in central Wi...Preferably in the Dells area...Thousands of hotel rooms and campsites...Schedule the race in early-mid September when it's still warm and the kiddies are back in school.....

Nascar shouldn't be adding any new races, they are over saturated as it is.

They need to look at cutting the amount of races if anything.

I love Wisconsin Dells. Every year on my way from our Brainerd Mn race to our Indy race i stop and spend a few days at the Kalahari Water Park Resort in Wisconsin Dells for some fun and relaxation. Most of the pro teams stay at the Kalahari when we do our Norwalk Oh race also. Here is a link.

The TV contracts lock in the number of races but a lot of venues with multiple dates need to lose one to new tracks.

Until it becomes a league of it's own, and not owned by one person can it become a regional sport where winning the Southern division or the Western division for a shot at the title does it really become legit. JMHO.

Austin Texas at the new F1 track.

Circuit of the Americas. It is an awesome facility in a perfect location. Being close to Austin and the I35 corridor it wouldn't be hard for fans to get hotel accommodation. Plus it is a road course! Honestly it just makes sense.

I am all for the salt lake option as that is the area I live. We have a road course that a big local businessman spent millions on. I can't fathom why they spent so much money on the complex unless they thought something big was going to happen on day there. until I see trucks or nationwide there a cup race is way out of the question. besides I don't think the area around here is that into racing. looking at it some more it appears they spent $100 million on the track.

I like the idea of adding new tracks in the NW... or at least in the west. Eliminate the second dates for the 1.5 milers and throw in Iowa, Road America, Milwaukee, IRP!, etc.

Waaaay back in the early 1980's I knew the owner Tod Nelson when he was a bartender @ "The Brother in Laws" bar...He certainly has done extremely well building his waterpark resort empire.....

Yep, that's a fun place. When we do the Norwalk Oh race just about all of the haulers arrive on Tues which is the day before we can park at the track, and the Kalahari parking lot looks like there is a race going on there, and then on Sun night and Mon after the race it is full of haulers again. It is the one race a year where just about every pro team stays in the same hotel. Needless to say we keep all their bars and restaurants pretty full.:D We should get back on course here.;)

International. Anywhere outside North America. Sorry Canada.

Maybe have an international race once every two years.

Let me be as clear as I can be on this issue.....You will NEVER EVER see a track in Washington State. Ever. The Speaker of the House, Frank Chopp, is a complete a**wipe who personally insulted the King and DW when they were last up here several years ago to testify in front of The House. Done.

And you'd get 3 cars and an entire crew out there by boat? Hendrick can do that. F1 can do that. Smaller-lower budget teams can't.

The way I see it, Canada and Mexico are the only two international options.

To be a national sport, you need a national presence. So a presence in a growing region like the northwest is needed.

I mean they've done it before. I realize it's more expensive now to operate a team but I think most of the teams would be able to go.

I agree with all of you. Which means only one thing. They need to do SOMETHING with this schedule.

3 races at Phoenix ?

This and a Fontana Chase Race. I'll just live in the stands between March and September. I will hunt small animals for food. I will eat leftovers from the IndyCar race--won't be much because there nobody comes to that race, but that should sustain me. My TRD sweater will keep me warm at night. Might have to cut the sleeves off during the summer months. I can and would do this.

^ Don't cut the sleeves off. Unravel them, save the wool and knit new ones for the cold months.

Great point Aunty! What the hell is my problem with resourcefulness? Not a great recycler either. How ya been sir? Racin' been agreeable to ya? Starved for perspectives on the new set ups/aero rules--any nuggets for me? --send 'em over to my 0 Ride Height Thread or DM me--don't want to get anybody's panties in a knot over off topic stuff.

I believe you would do this if given the chance :D

I don't think there's too many races in the South. After all it is a Southern sport therefore it's only natural to have a higher concentration of races there. And don't forget that the South has already lost 4 races over the past decade - 2 at Rockingham, 1 each at Atlanta and Darlington.

Regarding the Northwest, they talked about building a track in the Seattle area about 5 years ago and that got shot down.

I think a track in Denver would be a good draw. ISC bought PPIR in Colorado Springs and promptly took the Busch race away with the idea of putting a Cup race in Denver at some point.

I would like to see more R&D for racing in the rain at road courses. maybe with the reduced horsepower next year it is something that will work....

I would like to see them figure out what a local yellow is.

The average green-flag run at Nationwide's Road America race:

2013 - 4.3 laps
2012 - 7.0 laps
2011 - 6.1 laps
2010 - 4.5 laps

Beyond pathetic.

That is a bit of a bitch, but I love Road America.

Who gets their panties in a wad over your ride height thread? As far as the traffic through it.. Nothing new to report.
