Got this off the Martin thread, believe it or not, theres a lot of the "old guard" or you could call them "grizzled veterans" so to speak, that havent won the championship yet. Which one would you like to see win a championship?

Personally, I'd want to see Sterling Marlin win the championship, he's been at it for so long, he nearly did in 2002 if it wasn't for that horrifying wreck at Kansas that sidelined him for the rest of the season. Chip Ganassi is probably diverting the resources off to the 41 and 42 and that'll leave only a little bit for the 40 to work with, hopefully they can pick up where they left off and start winning again and bring the title home to Chip Gannassi.

I said Kyle Petty because that answers the question of who I would "want" to see win a championship. I realize that we have a better chance of seeing Tony Stewart named president of the NASCAR rules committee than of this happening, but I would still love to see it. :p

Seriously though, I would just love to see Kyle win one more race before he hangs it up. Stranger things have happened.

Don't think it's going to happen, but I'd like to see Joe Nemechek win. Got to meet him after his Busch win last year at Dover, seems like a great guy.

I voted for Kyle. Strictly a sentimental vote. But, I agree with 4x, I'd like to see him win one more race before he hangs up the helmet.

I voted Ward...............and I see I'm the only one so far! :) My reasoning is pretty simple. He hasn't had a good ride since he's been in the series and I believe he's a lot better than most will give credit for. Unless he gets on a good team as more than just a R & D driver, it ain't gonna happen. :( But, I believe this poll was a wish list anyway. :)

Mark Martin also.

Not surprising to see Mark leading the balloting, but Geoffrey Bodine second in the votes is really surprising to Me. ;)
I'd also add Ricky Rudd if 2 votes were allowed, but don't want to be shown the oval office

I think the Geoff Bodine was throw in for a throw away vote. He ain't racing any more. :)

I voted for Mark, but I would also like to see Ricky and Kyle also.

Voted for Sterling Marlin would like to see Michael Waltrip however, the universe has a better chance of turning into a pancake than MW winning the cup much less a non-RP race.

i have been saying this for a long long long time. if not a champ then one more cup race, Ken Schrader....but ever since get got out of the 25 car he has not had any luck. :(

I voted Ward, just since i like him the best out of the picks, besides, people may hear an accent like his a lot, but i have never heard it and i just have to love it.

Agree. For so many reasons, but mostly for Adam. That kids smile was unmatched. There wouldn't be a dry eye in the house. :stickdance: :stickdance: :stickdance:
