Pontaic Grand Prix Will the new 2003 Pontaic be better than the 7 year old car that ran from 1996 to 2002. It better be! The new Pontaic seems to be alot sleeker and that should help the one thing that hurt Pontaic the most "Aero Push" (didn't think you would hear that during the off season did you) The Pontaic brass seems to be putting alot more money and support with this new car, could that be a good sign. With a limited amount of Pontaic teams(currently 4) the money will go farther and they all should be helping each other out. Also the big thing now is to have a BGN team to run on Saturdays and they have 2 cars that will be working with cup teams(Brewco and MBV/MB2). I see big things for Pontaic in 2003, not a Championship but possibly all 4 cars in the top 20 in points(4 team will be the worst team, if foyt does not race pontaic) I also predict the 01,10, 32 will all win at least one race each. The blows to Pontaic is they don't have their own engine program, could that be a possibility?
Chevy Monte Carlo Whats this car, just a carbon copy of the Pontaic Grand Prix, without the split grill. Chevy has close to 15 teams and thus the money is spread between them all, but not evenly to help the smaller teams. I don't see much saring info between chevy teams.
Ford Taurus Not much of a change here. Only big diffrence is that Penske is gone. Ford will still only worry about the top teams RYR, Rousch, WoodBros and not even give the smaller teams a second look, such as Bodine, Jasper, Carter. If ford was smart they would help out the smaller teams and get them running good. IMO FOrd is the top dog right now
Dodge Interpid Again not much of a change, a diffrent nose. Actually thats not a small change. Dodge also had to change there motors mid season and that did not work in there favor. Not excatly sure if they are keepign the same motor? With Penske switching to Dodge with Diamler-Chrystler money(20 million) I am not to sure how the other Dodge teams will work with them. I know Evernham is not happy with that, i would guess that most of the teams aren't.
I just don't see penske fitting into that one team concept. They might do well but i don't see them giving helpful hints to the other Dodge teams. Dodge needs to be improved to stay competive, i don't see much this year.
So again of these 4 makes which do you think will change the most during the season.
the manufactuer standings was
Ford
Chevy
Dodge
Pontaic
Will that stay the same or not?
