Well, the rookie of the year race is heating up, Jamie McMurray and Greg Biffle are in a tight fight for it, heres the standings so far:

1 -- Jamie McMurray 242
2 -- Greg Biffle 231
3 -- Casey Mears 180
4 -- Tony Raines 179
5 -- Jack Sprague 158
6 -- Larry Foyt 127

Now who do you think is going to win rookie of the year honors ? I'm going for Jamie McMurray on this one.

Jamie McMurray will win the ROTY becuase he does a lot better then the others.

Yes, Biff DNQ'd at Las Vegas earlier this year. Still, at times this season he was ahead of Jamie in the ROTY battle even with missing that race.

Sober up folks.Biffle will win it.
That's who I think will win it, but I didn't want to quite put it that way 97!

I loathe the person that still says Jack Sprague is still in contention

No, but Foyt still is. :p

I wouldnt count Biffle out folks, things seem to be starting off very well with his new crew chief.

Doesn't matter to me I think Roty in the wc is joke, how can you finish ahead of all the other rookies in the season standings and get beat in roty. A rookie could win the winston/nextel cup and loose the roty. Rediculous

Jimmie Johnson well had an excellent shot to win the championship last year but didnt Ryan Newman lead the ROTY standings since day one ?

I'm pretty sure it went back & forth...especially when Jimmie won at Dover & California earlier in the year.

Granted Jimmie was 5th in points & Ryan was 6th last year & right now Biff is 18th in points & Jamie is 21st, but it doesn't always turn out that way...Matt finished ahead of Jr. in final points & rookie points in 2000 as did Kevin finish ahead of Kurt Busch in both in 2001 & Elliott Sadler wasn't even close to Tony Stewart in 99.

If it happens once that proves to me the system needs to be changed.

Screw changing the NASCAR points system, the rookie standings is something that needs some real work! I think they should just go by driver's points or something thats the only working solution I got

missing a race doesn't affect ROTY . they take the best 16 races I believe it is at the end of the year.
Jr won 2 races & Matt one in there rookie year & Matt won it

Jamie!!!!!

I would liek 5to see TOny pull together a bunch of good finshes and score the upset !

I voted for Biffle even though I like Jamie more....I think Biffle has a little more 'edge' to his driving style and is on more a roll as of late, so I think that will help him in this last bit of the season.

The system definitly needs some tweeking, but I'd like to know how seriously each driver/sponsor/team takes ROTY as compared to Cup standings....

I doubt Lowes and Jeff G. were really that upset that Jimmie didn't win last year with a rookie year finish of 5th! There are lots of drivers and sponsors that love to have that kind of showing.

Actually it is 17 races eeff, if it's one thing I actually do understand about NASCAR...it's the ROTY points system. I made myself really educated about it when Matt & Dale Jr. were in the battle in 2000. :D
