I am new here so I hope this is OK... I am so sick of some commercials that I am so glad I have the ability to fast forward through them if I choose to record the race and watch it later..... unfortunately I usually have to watch the commercials because I would rather watch live..

The 2 commercials I am sick of......

1. Clint Boyer: "Fav our energy....when I gotta get stuff dun"

2. Groucho Marks eyebrows followed by the comment " Game ON!" (headlight cleaning commercial)

Please let me hear some of your least favorite commercials.

As a side note.... why can't Nascar do like Indy races on NBCSN where they keep the live race showing in a small box .... I mean, wouldnt that be better for the sponsers?? We would see all the commercials because we wouldn't fast forward if they kept the live feed in a small box to the side, hence we would watch the commercials or at least give them 50% of our attention.

I was pretty tolerant of TNT but they eventually got to me. That "all my exes live in Texas..." commercial made me mute often.

The progressive commercials, the all all state good hands yap..A simple formula
applies 'show me the babes, some good TNA if you want me to pay attention' .

I'm can tolerate commercials (although I wish the networks would do side-by-side) because I understand why they need them. TNT was way overboard. FOX and ESPN can be bad at times, but at least they get the commercials out of the way early and air the end of the race with as few commercials as possible.

What's a commercial? That's why I own a DVR and start the race anywhere from 60-90 minutes late and I end up finishing the races just a little bit after they actually ended. I'll only watch the "big" races live nowadays.

The television networks are starting to fight this. Hell, I can't even skip the commercials on the DVDs that I paid $20 for.

How can they? I'm not watching it on-demand. Other then taking away the fast forward feature I don't know how they can really do anything to stop it and if they did something like that, I'd finally cancel cable for good and just get my sports through other means. Racing and sports are the only reason I haven't cancelled cable yet.

Unfortunately, people actually watching commercials is what makes free TV programming work. This is why side by side ads are smart. You're forced to watch them, even if you not focused on them. With the new web based DVR's, it never actually records the show. It just tags it for later access, possibly with no FF function during commercials. In theory, they could just have all their programming stored for anyone to watch whenever they want, and splice in new commercials.

If I ran a cable company with the bandwidth, everyone would get a net based DVR free, and I would make my money off of new ads that must be played at regular speed in the shows for playback.

If my cable company did that though I would cancel everything that very day though and either switch to a different company or just get rid of cable entirely. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one either.

Some of the On Demand shows now on Comcast don't allow you to fast forward through the commercials, pisses me off, that is the entire beauty of watching it for me so that I can watch a hour show in 35 minutes!

Same thing with VOD network shows on DIRECTV. And no HD on network VOD. The result is that I don't watch it at all.

Unless they are entertaining, I tend to ignore the commercials. On the opposite note, commercials I'd like to see again would be a new series of the 'How Bad Have You Got It?' batch. Those were pretty good and I always looked forward to the next edition. Some of you may remember those.

The new Jeff Gordon commercial is entertaining because his expressions and lines make me think of Charlie Sheen during the great mania.

Welcome verefx.

Good topic!

I am really dreading all of the political crap that is headed our way as candidates try their best to influence NASCAR Dads.

There are soooo many stupid-azz commercials that it's hard to say which I am more sick of.
I would check the "All of the Above" box! lol

It's remarkable how bad SDTV is. I only watch HD.... haven't once turned on CBS Sports Network or FUEL TV because they're not in HD.

This statement speaks volumes about you, Andy!!
Nobody could have painted a more accurate picture of you!
See, for you, it's all about APPEARANCES!
Your opinions have NOTHING to do with the quality of the CONTENT!
It's all about HOW IT LOOKS to you!
Superficiality reigns supreme in Andy's World!!
WOW!!

Man, a psycho-analyst would be licking his chops at the opportunity to delve into your psyche...
He could milk you for a fortune if he had THIS bit of information prior to you laying on his couch!

Amazing!!

Yeah, I only watch sports in HD. Watching a football game in SD where the picture is stretched out and distorted makes no sense. I only watch movies in HD, unless they're older movies, because I like to watch them the way they're meant to be watched instead of with the picture stretched and distorted. The worst thing about CBS SN and FUEL is that the networks broadcast their content in a way that they're only meant to be viewed in HD, yet we only get them in SD so, along with the stretched and distorted picture, you have half the picture cut off.

If a program is meant to be watched in HD, that's how I watch it.

The only networks that broadcast in HD that are tolerable in SD are MSNBC and SPEED. But I get them in HD so there's no point to watching in SD.

Great replies guys, I wonder if any of the TV execs or even Nascar people read these post here? If so, I hope they listen to the desire for us to have side by side....

I will say that I really applaud Direct TV for the 790 channels where you get 4 drivers in car and the race to the side... when commercials come on you at least have 4 drivers to chose from where you can still watch the race from their perspective.

Now if they would just have it for all 43 drivers instead of just junior and 3 other top drivers I would stop complaining.

I admit to being a total HD snob. The only exceptions I made/make were for Mad Men (prior to DIRECTV carrying AMCHD) and I still watch Portlandia in SD. And that's it.

I get FuelHD but I never watch it.

And I refuse to watch anything in stretch-o-vision.

IMPRESSIVE, NO??

VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!

I'm a Nascar fan .Used to watch it on Wide World of Sports in black and white . I would be quite happy to watch it again in black and white on a 19" screen. Todays Nascar fans are spoiled rotten.

There seems to be almost no differential in the number of commercials aired during a race telecast, whether the race is aired on an over-the-air channel or a cable channel.

Based upon the fact that I am already paying some entity for the ability view the cable channel, I feel like I should NOT be subjected to the same obscene number of commercial breaks that I am forced to endure when watching a race on "free" tv.

Would I pay for commercial-free broadcasts? Yes. How much would I be willing to pay? I dunno...
