One thing for sure, the race at NHIS was incorrectly named, "The Seimens 300" !!!!!!!

Seimens hardly got mentioned, but Budweiser sure did. I think a more appropriate title would have been;
"The Dale Earnhardt, Jr, / Budweiser / Truax, Jr. 300".
With post race interviews of Dale Earhardt, Jr., MartinTruax, Jr., and the Budweiser Clydesdales brought to you by NASCAR and TNT.

The pre-race show began with ten minutes of explaining Juniors serious injuries, a lengthy explanation of getting an injured driver in and out of a car during a caution.

It did not end there as further information was provided about Martin Truax, Jr., and how quickly he could get into a car.

For all of one millisecond, the flash back of how quickly a testosterone charged youth of seventeen could hop in the back seat of a 1955 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan came to mind but was quickly dispelled for the foolishness of the thought. The situation truly did need some humor by this time.

Still it did not end. The topic continued into the regular programing and extended into supposition of how well Truex, Jr. might do after taking the wheel, and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.
Well you get the idea.

People who own television sets are really fortunate to have the opportunity to watch programs with the word "entertainment" in the title as there are many choices availible now with the newly added feature of the Earnhardt Entertainment Races brought to you by NASCAR and TNT.

In all fairness to the seriousness of the injuries to Junior, they deserve to brought to the forefront of the events of the day.

There were other stories that take place and were touched on lightly before the cameras rushed back to give us three or four laps of Junior driving while the comentators offered their opinions of his discomfort.

Give Junior deserved coverage for his injuries and grit.
Don't make it the entire race.
Not with 42 others on the track surface.

Was there any mention of Carl Long?? How about Ted Christopher other than the obligatory "he won yesterday with the help of his brother". Any remarks on Kevin Lepage?? Morgan Shepard ?? Hermie Sadler ?? Or Jimmy Spencer ?? Sorry about that. Jimmy led three laps, ahem, under caution, and finished 23rd. Not note worthy for an unsponsored car.

On another topic, what's with this deal between Stewart and Kahne ??? Will the reporters ever let it go ??? Why oh why do they insist on bringing it up every time they meet these two. How many times do they need to hear about the "phone tag" deal?? Anyone with a modicum of thoughts process must know as close as the motorhomes are parked to one another, if they REALLY wanted to talk to one another, it ain't hard. Cell phones ?? Phone tag ?? IMO, the line "we keep missing each other", is plain bulldroppings. Kasey is bland and TOny sez, "I diodn't do anything wrong". ( YAWN )

NHIS was an interesting race. not much in the lead change department but there was plenty of good racing in the remainder of the field.

Can't wait for next week at Pocono since just plain ole curiousity makes me wonder if the saga will continue on the "Earnhardt Entertainment Network".

Whizzer, you know I agree.
There was an interesting letter to the editor in Stock Car Racing Mag where a reader was complaining about Lil'E being on the cover for 4 out of the last 6 issues. Basically he was told that Lil'Es pic sells magazines so get used to it.

As to yesterday, the funny part was when they were interviewing Lil'E and he said that there were only a few guys he would allow to drive his car. If this is true why would anyone pick John Andretti. Unless they are having a scrap metal drive afterwards.
But, no one can argue that the 1st 58 laps was all Lil'E. Then after the driver switch he watched Truex for another solid 10 laps. We were shown the driver switch -twice- before we ever knew what happened to Craven.

But, you can't win. They don't care. They only want to sell tickets and get viewer ratings. If and when Lil'E falls out of favor or quits we can only hope there is not another to take his place. Afterall this is why so many hate Jeff. And, he was a better driver at that stage in his career.

Funny thing is that the non-stop coverage of the Jr/Treux saga stopped after he wrecked.

I was having a hard time following where Matt was on the track. I got to see his car for about 3 seconds when he and the #10 got together and never saw him again until he broke into the top 5 late in the race.

Me or 17, EMP? I kinda knew what we were in for. I imagine that nearly every race until the end of the season will be like this. We should start a pool on how many times they will show his wreck from here on out.

Is it me or is Lil'Es spokesperson from Cali having a last name of Crisp funny?

I know I got sick of the Earnhardt Jr Show too, then we had to see his ugly undeserved Mug in KFC, Wrangler, Napa, and Budweiser commercials. Then I log on the internet, and get on NASCAR.com today and the majority of the stories were about Jr and next week. GAWD, I AM DAMN WELL SICK OF JR!

You know; for the past few years I couldnt stand Kurt Busch, as much as Dale Jr, but now I've learned to tolerate him way more than Jr....Jr dont deserve to be compaired to Gordon or Sr; he's far from their league. He's more like in the league as Hermie Sadler or Jimmy Spencer. I just wish now that it was Dale Jr. that Spencer punched instead of Kurt.

Actually, I was referencing whizzer.

Let's face it folks. 15 drivers could be held at gunpoint by Arab radicals on pit road while Junior battled a hangnail. We're gonna see that emery board on TV. Mark it down.

If you think that is bad. wait till the last 10 races of the season. It will be the Jr. and Bud. show each week. With 9 other surporting actors.

Whizzer, you hit it dead on, again!

I kept saying "enough, already" over and over. I wanted to see the other cars on the track.

I think I saw occasional glimpses of racing in the mid-pack, but I'm not sure. It was a boring race, and an even more boring telecast. *yawn*
Oh, well, got caught up on the housework and the laundry. LOL

And I take it you expected anything different?
Actually quite used to it. Just find it odd that a Busch series driver gets more 'pub' then the Winston Cup Champion of the previous season.

I'm just wondering if Action or Franklin Mint will come out with a diecast of the burning Corvette from Infinoen...they made a ton of them and sold out relatively fast when they came out with Dale SR's wrecked car from the '97 Daytona 500.

The only positive thing out of this is last year a person on these very boards could better get away with blaspheming God than speaking ill of Lil'E. It is nice to see that others are finally getting fed up as well. I've been there and now it's more of a game to see how blatant the coverage really is... :(

I just loved the parts when they showed Jr in his car in the box, then on the other screen, it was just Jr. Just about as much as I like getting teeth pulled. It was insane. But I know that Jr sells stuff, so what else can you expect.

In reality, how boring could the race have been? You had the 97, 24 and 17 cars come from way back in the pack to the front. If anyone bothered to make that visible, I think you would not have thought the race was boring. The responsibility soley rests on the coverage.

Thank you Windsor377, for that my friend, is the main reason I was perterbed by the coverage. There were plenty of things happening and the race was not as boring as many thought.
The coverage sucked due to the "Junior watch".

The networks have a lot of soul searching to do and at least one major decision to make. They must choose between "fan favorites", and providing good race coverage.

The two are separate and distinct items. Until the networks decide which way to go, a good race will be mediocre and bad reviews will continue to pour in just as they did here.

The race was a pretty good race and would have received better reviews had it been covered properly rather than centered on one team.

That decision has long been made.

heck even when they were going away from commercials and they would play a song it would show LilE getting out of the car. Oh well the press will feed off anything these days and if it's a big thing like LilE getting injured it'll make into TV . Earnhardts a household name like Andretti , Petty and Schumacher are. When something happens to good drivers like that the press willmake a big deal about it.

I've often wondered how come a lot of people always talked about how boring or how bad the racing was at New Hampshire. I been to the track once; for the Winston Cup race back in July of 2001 and I thought I saw an excellent race. And, IMO, Bob Bahre has only improved the track since then. Now I'm convinced it's either the tv coverage or the perceived notion of once a bad race, always a bad race.
