The Daytona 500 on President's Day Weekend. ANOTHER tradition Brian France just had to change.

They wanted to get rid of that bye week and track owners wanted to keep there certain dates. Not sure France could of done much. There was nothing on this weekend though, it would of been great for Nascar to start.

Wouldn't it be something if JR went on a roll and won like 6 races and the championship?

That is the single thing that would be the single thing that would COMPLETELY turn the NASCAR world upside down!

I love how people are high on Carl Edwards. Never before has the guy strung together two great years, but everybody has him pegged as the guy that is going to get it done now.

His best year by far was when Roush went with the offset rear end before anyone else, and he managed to mess that big advantage up at Talladega. Last year, Tony kept warning Carl about sleeping too long, and Carl didn't listen because he was too afraid of messing up again. I'm not sure Carl will ever win a championship. His reactions are incredibly slow, and his car control is suspect. He doesn't seem to know how to race hard without wrecking himself or someone else, and NASCAR is becoming more about hard racing than it's been in the past 10 years..

When Carl blew up at MIS this year, I was elated. NO WIN FOR THE CARL. Then Shrub beat JJ by a few laps at the end.

Carl and the Jack Roush organization have become Mr. Consistancy .Can't see them finishing out of the top three.Compare that to Stewart Haas who lucked into the chase when they were all but written off.How can people possibly expect them to repeat and make the chase this year.(with a new crew chief to boot)

Tony lucked into the chase? When did that happen?

Carl's gonna be overly aggressive this year. Carl thought he was sitting pretty, even laughed it off when Tony laid the gauntlet down. Tony put his money where his mouth is though.

Huh ...Tony himself would tell you he did. Plus he fired his crew chief thinking he wasn't going to make it into the chase. When the 14 becomes a true top five contender, they will have info to share with Ryan Newman's team making them a top team as well.I'll admit that Tony is a top five driver, just don't think they are a top ten team.

Except for that they haven't been able to string together two solid years in a row? Yeah. Top 3 for sure. As far as Tony, they didn't luck into the chase. They earned it, just like everybody else did. And as far as expecting the 14 to be a winner, it can happen. Look at what happened to the #2 when Paul W stepped into the pit box. :eek2:

Ted, Tony never said anything like that, so how can you assert he would? Tony wasn't out of the top ten when he did say it doesn't matter if he makes the chase because if he was running as bad as he was, he would just be taking up a spot. I believe this was after running 28th at Bristol. He later said he fired Grubb because he didn't feel he was going to be competitive for a championship with Grubb as his CC, this year or ever. He was wrong, but he didn't luck into the chase when he was 20+ to the good after race 24 and finish 3rd and 7th to hold his spot.

I was just checking in with Andy to be sure PRESIDENTS DAY is going well. You know with the Bud shootout and all:D
Speaking of President's Day..... Boy how I miss that long standing tradition of the D500 on President's Day weekend. I know when I think President's Day, I think Daytona 500. :D
