With the two hottest free agents in NASCAR signed, who came out better: Hendrick for signing Dale Jr. or Gibbs for signing Kyle Busch?

Both are interesting situations with questions still remaining. Can Junior deal with being the #3 man at Hendrick (maybe that's what he really wants) while pursuing a championship? Can two volitile personalities like Stewart and Busch co-exist in the same garage with Hamlin lurking in the background?

I think Hendrick come out better. He won't have the ego's JGR will. The Coach better keep his plane on standby. He will definitely be called in.

I'm n Jr fan, so take my words for what its worth.

I think Hendrick did, I personally think Jr is capable of winning championships, and im not sure the way things have been ran at DEI for the past 3 or 4 years have helped Jr one bit. He needs to be on a team where his name is not on the door.

Busch needs to control his temper and his mouth a little bit...i think that goes a long way in nascar....but who better to do that than Joe Gibbs? However, the 18 car has struggled since Bobby won the championship in that car...Can Gibbs racing support all 3 cars at a top level? They have proven they can support 2...lets see if they can support 3.

i agree with whats already being said...at JGR the 18 has internal issues and now ego issues, over at hendrick you got a fan favorite in a #3 team role.

Good point. I think we'll know really quickly whether it was the car/team or the driver. Kyle has been fast in everything he's ever sat in. The 5 had been off the mark for a bit as Terry Labonte wrapped up his career, and Kyle put it back in victory lane his rookie year. I expect we'll see the same thing happen with the 18.

All of the folks mentioned above are doing what they do for the MONEY! Keeping money in mind, who do ya think can bring the most money to a team? Winning or not, Dale is at the top of the game.
Betsy:rolleyes:

They both will do better. Hendricks will have the benefit of a more mature driver and Gibbs will have a very fast kid on their hands. I don't think that Steve Addington will be with the 18 much longer and with Interstate Batteries looking to only sponsor half of the races, they could come up with the funds from a co-sponsor to make it run fast. The 18 team needs an overhaul. It hasn't been the same since McSwain & Labonte broke up. Yeley might have been put in an unfair situation and didn't help matters by cleaning out the invenotry on the race track. Maybe Kyle Busch could be the spark (no pun intended) that lights up the 18 team.

Hendrick definitely made out in a pure business sense. Dale Jr is simply the most popular driver in the sport today. He may not have the upside that Kyle might have, but he is a much more mature and polished driver now.

Kyle has potential, and I hope (for Joe Gibbs sake if nothing else) that he lives up to some of it. I really don't think he will be as good as many think he will be, but it could happen.

What will be interesting is if the team switches to Toyota, and all 3 do very well.

As far as the money goes, Hendrick did.

Kyle Busch, however, is a far more talented driver than Junyer. Gibbs and Kyle will win more races.

Time will tell on that guys, as of stats go Jr. is the better driver

I think we will finally see how good, or bad, Jr really is. No excuses now.

Kyle has a 3 year contract. How long did Lil'E sign for? What happens at the end of year 3 with Kyle? Short term I think Hendrick made the better choice. Long term it could be Gibbs, if Kyle can deliver to his potential.

LIL E signed for 5 years.

Hendrick's came out ahead by far. Bush is a spoiled bratty snot whereas Jr. is a star to be reckoned with. I think by the end of next season, with Hendricks backing your going to see a few of wins and within the next 2-3 years a championship run.
