Who do you agree with?

I liked what I saw today. I don't care if it's two by two or twenty by twenty it's still racing and the first one to the finish wins. I say leave it alone. Eventually it'll change again into something completely different and many will have something else to complain about.

I don't see what the big deal is? It's still racing. I'll take it over two or three long trains.

I dislike this "Love Bug" racing immensely. I guess that it's actually racing but it's not the type of racing I grew up with. I guess that since the highest racing series are now considered a "team sport," (another concept I disagree with) "Love Bug" racing fits right in. You can win on your own but rather have to have someone on the track help you. The logical next step would to be award the "Team" who crossed the line first getting equal trophies? I watched a replay of the post race festivities and saw the winner present the checkered flag symbolically to his "Pusher."

I admit I didn't weatch the race today except for the final laps (right after the last caution) but listened on the racing instead. that wasn't only because of the "Love Bug" affect (that did play a part) but also because of DW and Larry Mac, neither of whom I care to listen to any more than absolutely necessary.

Bottom line for me is that I guess it's OK (and probably completely fitting) for today's NA__AR, but it's not something that I want to watch. But since it feeds this misleading yardstick of race quality that NA__AR is so wrapped up in, the "Number of lead changes," it's probably here to stay. I can't say the same for myself though.

Dang great finish and I enjoyed the racing. In my eyes a bad day of racing beats a great day of work.

I first hated it. But after today I'm changing my mind. I look at it this way. I never liked the pack racing that restrictor plates caused. It was not racing at all compared to how the cars raced at all the other tracks. So is the two car shuffle any better? It is if you see it in this mind set. Don't look at it as 2 cars running nose to tail. Instead, they are "one" car. And the racing this "one" car produces is fantastic. 85 lead changes is astounding for any race. And the other advantage is that when there is a wreck, fewer cars are involved due to there being some distance between cars. The big one can still happen on a restart, but after 2 laps, the field starts to get spread out just like they do at other tracks. This is JMO, but if I have to watch a restrictor plate race, I like the 2 step shuffle much better than the packs.

I don't have a problem with it. Use to take more than 2 to pass and now it takes just 2. I like it more than the running nose to tail playing follow the leader.

I have no problem with it like DP said it will probably change again soon enough and those who don't like this will go on and not like that:rolleyes:

You said a mouthful. It doesn't matter what the change is, there will always be the same who complain about the changes. Maybe its time for the old guard that can't keep up with the changes to find another interest. NASCAR will continue to change and its all because the owners/drivers want to find an edge. They change because of the Chase, they change because of the aerodynamics of the cars, they change because of the race surface, they change because of the tires, etc. etc. etc. I say if you don't like what you see with today's NASCAR, rent the old races and rewatch them. At least then you can find something you like...but then you will probably find something there to complain about.

I thought the race today was OK and don't really care one way or the other if they change it...I'll still watch :)

People are going to complain - it's a fact - and as I have no control over that, I choose to not let it bother me.

i'm with jr. on this one:

“I’m hoping this kind of racing goes away fast so we don’t have to talk about this no more,’’ Earnhardt said. “This is a bunch of crap."

of course i hate all restrictor plate races.

:beerbang:

Well said Buckaroo. I have watched some dang great racing the last two years. Sometimes I hesitate to visit this forum because of the negativity.

I just cannot understand why people feel the need to pick to pieces every single change in NASCAR.

Drivers have always disliked plate racing, at least the honest ones. From a fans standpoint it is very exciting and today was no different. I think what Jr dislikes is the fact that a single car is screwed with out help dropping by 10 MPH. It makes it impossible to pull out and win coming to the line on the last lap.

Honestly, what can NASCAR do that won't have a bunch of people *****ing? Damn if you do, damn if you don't.

I'd say that NASCAR should just leave it alone. It is what it is.

I wonder how Jr. feels now that he finished 4th and is 3rd in points.

Do you really think that him pushing Jimmie to a win was going to change his opinion??? Is he supposed to feel "honored" or something?
Please......

They hate it because you can't see a damn thing, and incase you ain't noticed, all 43 drivers are control freaks, without much control.

THIS

Personally, I liked the 3-wide pack racing much better. I was on the edge of my seat all day. I didn't watch aything but highlights today, but except for the finish, looked like another two-step dosie-doe.

I think it $ucks. And I bet if Earnhardt senior was around he'd say it $ucks too.

I hope we see an all new deal at dega' and Daytona once they go to fuel injection.

I prefer the slingshot type racing from years ago.

If given a choice, I would take large pack racing over this two-car tango we see today.

At the end of the day, it's Talladega. And as far as NASCAR and providing exciting racing here to the fans on tv and in the stands goes; you can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time.

I'll continue to watch. I may not like it, but you can bet both Talladega dates on the NASCAR circuit will be circled every year on my calendar.

Exactly which is the way it should be, you should be able to pull out and slingshot by, that is drafting. This tandem stuff is not. Buck ...you are older than me and I'm very surprised you actually like this stuff. I'm all for change, change for the good, not changing something with the result that you end up up with a gimmick. This is not change for the good. Change for the good was not racing to the yellow, safer barriers, the safer COT, I'm all for that kind of stuff. Nascar has never been able to get the plate stuff right because they continue to put a band aid on it instead of actually fixing it!

he probably feels the same way, if you are the 2nd car in your group coming to the line you have no chance of winning. Hell you dont have a huge shot at finishing 2nd....
