Who else misses this song?

Never heard it that I recall, but, seeing the word "slideways" in the title caused my gag reflex to react and :bleh: to begin. It had to have something to do with DW.

Hearing DW made me throw up in my moof

I am serious and have no intentions of doing that lol... I like DW

It's his annoying announcing stye.
Even I have a hard time listening to him, and he was my favorite driver back in the day.

Unfortunately his annoying announcing style has overshadowed his actual racing career with some fans. He won 7 straight races at Bristol and 12 total wins at that track. He's is tied for 4th with Bobby Allison on the all time wins list with 84 wins. Also a 3 time champion.

There are many many fans that only know of DW from his time as an announcer, but he was absolutely one of nascar's greatest drivers of all time.

Well said

Yeah I know all that, watched him race, and don't have a problem with him in the booth at all, he predicts many things in a race before they happen, and he has insider knowledge, that most of the other talking heads don't have access to. Most of the wankers weren't around when he was on the track, same guy, outspoken, opinionated. Not going to ever win any popularity contest, but he raced pretty clean, wasn't a bully, and had a positive attitude.

If your not serious you should have put the sarcasm emoticon, If you are serious then log off, step away from the computer and log back on in February.

No toothbrush hell, that's why we eat cute little hairy poodle dogs.

Nothing cute about poodles. I got three next door that I'll ship you for free. PM me an address. I can't guarantee they'll be alive when the arrive...
(Hell, I can't guarantee they'll be alive when I wrap em.)

LOL

The theme music NBC used for the Daytona 500 in 2002 and 2004 -- now that was one great piece of music. I sure wish I had an MP3 of it.

The first name that comes to mind when i think of the word Nascar is Waltrips. I have always liked the Waltrip brothers when they were racing, and i also liked their funny azz commercials. I don't have a problem with them being in the announcers booth, either. So, blast me if you must.:D

Darrell brought a lot of personality and showmanship into the sport . I thank him for that along with his great driving.

These two are my favorites:

There is a theatrical version of this one, but I prefer this version.

And is this the theme you were talking about, Andy? They used the same one for TNT and NBC.

I still remember watching Darrell in the booth during the 2001 Daytona 500 when Michael won it and Dale Sr crashed. He wanted to be happy for his brother Michael, but you could tell that he was really worried about Dale because he knew Dales wreck was a lot worse then it looked to us on tv.

DW was a geat interview after a race as you never knew what was going to tumble out if his mouth. Unfortunately, that doesn't carry over very well to the booth, at least not for me.
