Who else thinks JG has been getting the shaft this year?

Seems like Jeff Gordon has been in the thick of alot of races this season with strong cars & shots at victory's but everytime something out of his control, like BK seemingly speeding past him on the pitlane at Bristol, happens that steals the win away. He should probably have about 6 wins this year the way I see it. What do you all think...??

Racing is Racing and Destiny is in the hands of your CC these days. Or Timing lines, depending on the track... :growl:

I dont think it is he is getting the shaft so much is dumb luck. At the begining of last season Jeff had some SOLID runs, anyone remember Las Vegas?, only to come up short.

This year I am very happy to see him running competitive and hitting a win here and there. That makes me happy as a fan. :D

One thing that I think has hindered Jeff in getting more wins is double file restarts. His style of racing doesnt seem to match up to the aggresiveness that happens in a late race restart. At this point in his career, he doesn't seem as willing to put a car "anywhere" as say Kyle Busch is.

I wouldnt exactly call it stealing the win Brad just took advantage of a loop hole in the rules. Unethical yes but technically not cheating I don't think. Its like Jeff Burton winning the Winston Open in 2002 crossing the finish line on pit road after making the mandatory pit stop.

I remember that, it wasn't 2002 it was 2003. I remember thinking to myself that if they pull it off, it's pure genious. Then NASCAR changed the rules immediately following the race...

sorry wrong year there but yea its a very similar situation to this one Nascar has already taken action in this case too

It's the big time, Brad's team just outsmarted everyone. Ethics and getting the shaft doesn't apply, because anyone with the creative abilities could have used the same advantage. Refusing to do what is needed also should be grounds for termination.

The reason they allow teams to pick their stalls based on qualifications is because all stalls aren't all equal. So take what you can get and exploit, knowing that's the norm.

No slight to Gordon, he is among the greats, but along with 41 others they just got beat by someone more opportunistic. A prerequisite for the highly competitive.

Keep in mind Kesolowski did'nt Win just because of the advantages taken on pit road....at the end of the Race he left the feild and ran off and hid great car and a good driver!

I agree.

Keselowski ran a smart race all night and had the best car when it most counted.

The only challenge he may have had is if the #24 could've passed the #55 - which was on two tires so I don't know what that was all about

I am yet to figure that one out either! lol

i think jeff with gustafson as cc has had a very good year. i really think they work well together and i'm hoping jeff wins the chase. don't laugh, he can do it with just a bit more luck and aggressiveness. i think he *wants* the championship more than any other driver out there. time to show 5-time that his boss is no slouch behind the wheel.

Kenseth has stated that it was very tough to pass - of course he had no brakes - but as I said in another thread, Gordon's decision to race Truex clean is probably what cost him the win.

Keeping in mind that Gordon is one the smartest drivers out there and knows full well what the implications can be of racing someone dirty just before the chase starts.

ummm, that usually happens when someone gets out front nowadays

Truex said the car was to tight with four tires on a short run. They made the right call and got a good finish.

I have to hand it to Gordon though......it would have been real easy to move the 55 and Jeff did'nt,Nice Racing!

If anyone would even think that Jeff Gordon is a slouch they are clearly insane. The guy is one of the greatest of all time. I'd really like to see him finally win that 5th championship before he retires.

what you may call the shaft, I call flying under the radar. What is the stat JG has, something like 9-10 top 10s in the last 11 or 12 races. He is coming on strong with the chase just a couple races away. JG will be a force to be handled with come Chase time.
