Who is the best foreign driver Montoya or Ambrose

Montoya going down, Ambrose coming up, maybe, neither one all that much of a Nascar hot shoe at this time.

Unfortunately for both of them, we race 34 ovals and only 2 road courses a year. I'd give the edge to Montoya outside of Nascar. He's had a lot of success in open wheel. Ambrose was always fun to watch in V8 Supercars though. That's not an easy series to run either.

In total I am not sure. But in cars with Fenders I think Ambrose has a slight edge.

Montoya doesn't knock the fenders off the Grand-Am cars like he does in cup. Right now I think Montoya has an edge on the smaller technical ovals, but tracks like michigan that are WOT 95% of the time, I think Marcos has the advantage.
If they were 1-2 in a GWC at a road course, I'm not sure who would win.

Too close to call in my book. Both are really good on road courses.

O.K, Being an Aussie I will be a bit bias however I'll try to not let this show through.

If you look at what each driver has been exposed to as far as driving histroy, then JPM has a very clear advantage with achievements racing in europe, F1, CART, NASCAR etc so there is quite a debth of experience there for sure. With Marcos having a short stint in europe and the rest in Australia and then trucks, NWS and Cup.

However I dont feel that hes doing to bad considering that we have no ovals in Aust to have gained any experience.

Outright experience to JPM with results to Ambrose.

O.k... A bit biast

That's actually a good point. Ambrose seems to be on the rise, but he still hasn't made the chase.

Montoya's a one man wrecking crew but he's shown, when he settles in, he can compete consistently. Montoya and Kurt Busch both have the same problem, they're in ****** equipment, have to give it 100% every single lap and usually end up wrecking.

Marcos Ambrose is great on the road courses, but he's never really shown anything on the ovals. Montoya has, and with much less.

And you were doing so good. Juan also has 2 cup wins, both at WGI, same as Marcos. Ambrose and Montoya are virtually tied for T5 and T10 average on ovals. Juan had a dominate car at Indy, but blew the win by speeding. That's not good driving.

But he did finish 8th in the chase. If Marcos doesn't get caught up in more RPM/Gillette/Evernham drama, he could be good.

And RPM's equipment has proven to be better than EGR equipment.

Ambrose isnt on tge rise. every years he finishes between 15-20th in points and has really good runs on the RCs. it is time he showed he can do more.

I didnt know these stats.... thanks.

THIS year, maybe last year too. Before that, Juan clearly had the superior rides, week in and week out.

I wouldn't have ever considered EGR equipment good. They had good cars for like three years.

I really don't understand the Montoya hate. He'd be a top-ten driver if he was in a Hendrick, Roush or Gibbs ride.

Does anyone else think we have beaten this dead horse long enough ? They are 17th and 22nd respectively.

Good thing we got racing tomorrow night from Bristol:) We'd be beating these dead horses for days to come.

I've never had a problem ignoring a discussion that didn't interest me. Try it, you'll like it.

I guess this leaves some people more time to beat something else.

It seems like Marcos has been better this year. He has a win, and has led laps at several races this year. But I hear about Marcos more than I do Montoya, and what I've heard about Montoya lately has been negative, so I might be biased.

They both have two wins but Ambrose got his two wins in a fewer number of races run than did Montoya. So, I'm going with Ambrose.
Plus Marcos isn't the arrogant little prick that Montoya can be. :D

What do you think? Who is the better driver?

When was the last time a driver not born in the USA won at a NASCAR oval track? This has only happened one time to my knowledge.
