Just a race fan
I saw where Javier is going, just curious who else may be attending the season finally.
We'll miss it this year. We couldn't figure a way around the wife's work schedule.I saw where Javier is going, just curious who else may be attending the season finally.

Yes, will take as many photos and video as I can. Rigs galore coming down the Turnpike today, saw Jr, Chase, JJ, Kyle, Hamlin, Truex JR among others so far. The bulk of them coming down today bunched up together.I saw where Javier is going, just curious who else may be attending the season finally.
Well, I go because it is a 30 mile drive from the house, we enjoy nascar racing no matter where and how, and it represents the unique opportunity to attend all 3 series finales... My bucket list has Talladega and Indy still pending...There are too many other tracks closer to me I'd prefer to visit than to drive two days for a 1.5-miler, even one that decides champions.

Oh, yeah, for sure I'd be there if it was that close. Hell, I'd drive within five miles and take a cheap bicycle the rest of the way!Well, I go because it is a 30 mile drive from the house, we enjoy nascar racing no matter where and how, and it represents the unique opportunity to attend all 3 series finales... I thought about it, but then with so many crazy drivers down here, I might get run over, roadkill...Oh, yeah, for sure I'd be there if it was that close. Hell, I'd drive within five miles and take a cheap bicycle the rest of the way!

Go to the museum and IRP.Skip to Indy, just go to the museum one day if you ever happen to be in the area. The museum is the best part of the place. One of the worst places ever to see a race, awful sight lines and horrible heat. I went to one indy 500 and you would have to pay me to ever go there again.
I would have gone to Homestead if Tony somehow made the finals but I knew that had no shot at ever happening.

That BPS must have done a lousy job of publicizing his appearance. Two years ago Chase Elliott was at the local NAPA and people were parking in grocery lots and side streets two blocks away.We just got to Bass Pro Shops, it was empty! And there was Martin Truex Jr alone, we chatted with him for a while, took photos, autograph and left, cool guy, nice chatting with him!

Yeah, must have, I knew about it because the store had a small sign on front, but no TV or radio publicity at all. I felt kind of sad seeing him alone there, just talking to the PR Rep and security guard, but at the same time felt happy because we had all the time on the world to talk to him about stuff without being rushed. Actually we stayed there a good while and just a few people showed up. We stayed until he left, just to keep him accompanied..quite a nice and decent guy...That BPS must have done a lousy job of publicizing his appearance. Sharp lookin' pair of kids ya got there, J.
From what they told me, even less people for Dillon...so I take it as just Dillon and the security guard.. and the few people around the store were going on about their business as usual, looked over and went away, of course, the majority of clientele down here in Miami is not Nascar-minded at all...Did anyone show up to see Dillon?
Well, I don't how different it would be if it was Chase or JR...That's terrible when nobody shows up to your autograph signing lol.
If the store doesn't publicize it, it wouldn't matter if it was The King and The Ghost of Ironhead.Well, I don't how different it would be if it was Chase or JR...

Well, let me tell you, we had a blast yesterday, the race was great, Daniel Suarez was good on short runs, but on long runs he would get caught, seemed like as the race progressed, the others made adjustments and dialed their cars quite good, cautions proved to be the key, as in the restarts Suarez had an edge. We took photos of many drivers and team owners, current and past on pit road, surpised at how accesible they were and how photo and selfie friendly they were (heck, we even bumped into Jeff Gordon walking by himself, surprised at how short he is...) Overall it has been a great experience!!!

That's ok, let me tell you, being hispanic myself, I have never seen so many hispanics in a Nascar race, now, this might be partly due to the geographic area or Suarez followers, or both, but Suarez had a good number of followers in the race, out of curiosity I asked around to find out where people came from originally, and very few where Mexicans, most were from other latin american countries and they did vividly cheered Suarez lap after lap and restarts... I guess is a niche that Nascar is/will exploit with the diversity program? (Ypu know, go after the $$$) As for attendance, both races have been way less than full so far, we will see how it goes today...I'm sure it is politically incorrect to ask , but how important is it to people in your area that Suarez won a championship?

Yeah, I understand the origins of the sport, and I don't really look at it from a race or ethnicity angle, I'm in it for the speed, competition, the excitement... from what I have seen so far, there are few young guns in the making, coming up, that are very very good, just need a bit more development, more polishing...Thank Javier . One would hope that Nascar's diversity program would continue to grow .

Yeah, I can't imagine the budget that it takes to run a car full season, let alone 2 or more... and that is having a good finishes, otherwise, you are done for good, small teams don't stand a chance (although every once in a while there is a surprise).Unfortunately , this sport is very money driven . Owners do better with veteran drivers than kids . They have more consistent finishes , they are easier on equipment , and they are better with sponsors . Kids are way more entertaining , and it's great when one comes along with a sponsor .
