Arright, NASCAR Thunder 2004 is comin out in a few months for PS2, XBOX, PC, and Gamecube (early September to be exact) which will round out the usual cast of games that EA releases at about this time of year. Now, the cover has yet to be announced but when it does, this thread becomes obsolete right ? Well, anyway, it's expected to be the best racing sim out there now that Papyrus stops making NASCAR games. Now, who do you think should be on the front cover ? I dont think EA Sports would want to put Dale Jr. on the front cover of the game box again because Dale Jr. was on there last year because he won that EA Sports 500 and he'll probably do it again so it may not be a good idea to keep puttin him on there.

This was last years cover for NASCAR Thunder:

I would say Brooke Gordon.

She stole half of Jeff's thunder and probably made more money this year than any of the drivers.

the current champion
Yeah, What about Tony Stewart? If true fans even forget to put him in the equation, he must be know where near the radar for NASCAR/EA Sports.

I'd like to see the Ricky Craven/Busch finish....

....but maybe that needs to be part of the opening credits/movie stuff.....does a still picture really capture the excitement of that last lap????

(i still get gitty thinking about that!)

I hope they just don't put a plain-jane picture of a driver (like the current one with Jr....no offense to Jr.) because that dates the game to a specific year...I'd rather see it be more representative of the sport as a whole rather than a specific driver.

(unless they put Jimmie on the cover) :D

How about a photo of Jeff Gordon torn in half - you know the Brooke got the other half thing :p Reining champion should get this, that's why they do it...Tony

I said the Darlington finish, that would go perfect on there!

I already have a copy of it Reserved for PS 2 and It comes out either September 17th or September 7th I know there is a seven in there and i know its not 27 Im pretty sure its gonna be September &th I cant wait to turn up the sound and Speed around racetracks :jamming:

I had to vote for Ryan! I'm betting it'll be Jr. or Stewart oh. :(

Even though I would like to see Jeff on the cover of NASACR Thunder 2004, its going to be Dale Earnhardt, Jr. I read somewhere that part of EA Sports sponsorship deal for the EA Sports 500 is that whoever wins the race will be the driver on the cover of next years NASCAR Thunder. Thats also why Junior was on the 2003 cover.

They keep getting richer but they can't get their picture on the cover of the Rol... Oops that is the wrong one.

It should be mikey since he won Daytona...

I'm pretty sure its going to be the Darlington finish beccause i bought NCAA football2004, and it came with a preview about Nascar Thunder and it was all about the Darlington finish...

No offense...but I don't think Ward would really 'appeal' to the the younger crowd....

Laid back, low key, mellow, Southern-gentl.....well southern.... B)

Anyway, Ward is one of my favorite drivers because of all those things, but he just doesn't have that commercial, young, sex appeal like say Jr, Ryan, Tony, or Jimmie has....

If anything can really capture some of the 'excitement' of NASCAR it's that last 200 yards with bumbers locked fighting all the way to the line........

I knew that. :)

Though Michael Waltrips stands on having the record of having the worst finish in the points after winning the Daytona 500. After his first win, he finished 27th in the points. Wawd Burton came close the following season, though, finishing 25th in the points after winning the Daytona 500 that year.

Whats with the bad luck after your 1st Daytona win? Watlrip had a crappy year...then ward did...but this time it was Waltrips 2nd win, so now If Ward will win, maybe he will be 5th in points at this time as well...

Ward needs more than a win, he needs a good finish. That team has been struggling big-time this season. I don't know if releasing Tommy Baldwin was really the thing to do.

They are doing better now with Frankie, than they were last year with Tommy Baldwin, and this year at this time, they dont have Dodges support.

I hope Wawd does start doing better, but I don't see how losing dodge's support is going to help them this season. They really didn't need that.

They didnt get much support before...only for a 2 days, when he won at Daytona and when he won at New Hampshire. :( I figure he will go back to Pontiac, means they did pretty well with them. :bounce:

Pontiac and then Toyota, once they move up to Cup. Why not, after all the trouble Davis has been through already just supposively supporting Toyota.

Toyota will most likely come to Nextel Cup, and it'll probably open the door for all these other foreign manufacturers to start comin in, like BMW or Ferrari. Who knows ? They're probably testing for NASCAR Nextel Cup right now and we dont know about it. With Toyota's extensive financial backing, they'll most likely blow away the competition.

If these foreign manufacturers flood in, what we knew as an All-American sport may not be so All-American anymore. So thats one of the reasons why the traditionalists in NASCAR dont want part of Toyota and it's also the reasons why I dont want Toyota to come in, however if we can bridge a gap with foreign markets then so be it. Plus, they'rd ought to be fans of Toyota when it does introduce the Camry or whatever body theyre using to Nextel Cup, so those fans will spend money on merchandise. And dont forget that when these teams compete, NASCAR wins by attracting more popularity and fans, so Toyota's entrance may be a blessing in disguise to NASCAR.

Well, back to the topic, Michael would be a good driver to put on the front cover of 2004 however I'm not sure if he'll appeal to the younger fans like Dale Jr, Kevin Harvick or Jeff Gordon would.
