What's up with the stupid photos Turner has been running of the Cup winners on NASCAR.com lately?

This gem of Tony "Short Bus" Stewart is currently the top story:

Seriously, they couldn't find any better picture of Tony to post on NASCAR's official web site?

On my web site, I try not to post any unflattering photos in victory lane.

You would think that's common sense for a photographer.

After richmond they posted that "ohhhh shiny things" picture of Hamlin on their front page.

It's like those tabloid mags, they always use the worst picture they can find.
 
It depends. If they bias is positive then the pic they post will portray a positive image. Likewise if they are dogging the person then the pic will be less flattering. You can see that in regular newspapers all the time.
As to the Tony pic, who knows why that shot was used.
 
This picture of Sebastian Vettel after winning the Japanese Gran Prix is far worse, but at least it wasn't shown on F1's homepage.

NASCAR pictures these days are taken by people who work for Getty Images. I have a friend who used to be an official photographer with NASCAR but when she asked for a raise, they said good-bye and that all they needed was Getty. Most of the time you can see who the photographer is, but if its Getty, that's all you'll see.

lmao....... that pic is aweful....... but dag, it's funny..... I've taken quite a few like that at the local level in vicory lane...... needless to say they don't USUALLY make the light of day.... though I will admit, sometimes I show them to the driver and give 'em a hard time bout it. lol. But I gotta say, with a pic like that, makes me wonder if the guy that took it wasnt one of the photographer Tony punched.....lol..... either that, or no wonder he doesn't like the press.....
