Anybody out there remember when Brett got his win at N. Wilkesboro? If so, you'll understand the following. Every year, Brett has a golf tournament just west of WS in Yadkinville, NC. This past year, a friend of mine's son played in the tourney and when he had finished, began to walk back to the club house. Brett came along and offered him a ride. Josh hopped into the cart and they headed back. Brett was real nice, but Josh has an ornery side to him. He said to Brett, "I don't mean to be nosy or anything, but I was wondering just how much money you made on the circuit?" Brett looked at him and said, "Just over a million". Josh looked right back at Brett and said, "That ain't bad for someone who HASN'T won a race!" Brett took it in stride and busted out laughing. Now all you Earnhardt fans know he got taken to the cleaners on that day. :)

I think I was around when he won in North Wilksboro, i wouldent mind to see him win another

That is when he drove the quaker state car, is that correct? #26:rolleyes:

I remember the win pretty well. It was the Quaker State 26 car, owned by Kenny Bernstein, a Buick if memory serves.

i remember watching the race on TV werid win can't really remember something about a caution right at te end of the race or something

PS your signature is great, its a southern thing most don't understand

Well, if you live near Camp Creek, yer pretty much near the school. :D

Snow on the mountain looks nice, just hope the majority of it STAYS on the mountain.

don't know what do you think Paul. i just love it when folks from the north get defensive;)

your gettin closer our farm is off Little Indian Creek

no i didn't like i said it's a southern thing, if you wern't born and raised here you don't have a clue what i am talking about.

There is a standing joke, A yankee is someone from the north, a damn yankee is one who comes to visit and stays.

hope you have a great Yule and thanks for the debate.

:p

So I'm right then...it's akin to "It's a black thing". :)

Have a good one.

Is the signature by TNW22Fan a joke?? Or is the reference, "if you're not from the south you wouldn't understand", the joke??

Either way the response implies a direct contradiction to the signature by TNW22Fan you agree with. His post sez, just 'cause your kids were born in the south doesn't make them southerners.

You say if you weren't born and raised here you wouldn't understand. So what is it?? Being born and raised in the south makes someone a southerner?? Not according to TNW22Fan's signature.

You brought the subject up and appear firm in your conviction so I am hoping you will define what you mean by a southerner.
And the response "It's a southern thing and if I have to explain it you wouldn't understand", is a cop-out.

:(

Gonna start searching for another signature I guess...this is ridiculous.

It's a mind set Paul. I was born and raised in the South...........Harlingen, TX to Biloxi, MS to Dallas, TX. But, spent 16 yrs out here on the Left coast and when I moved back to the South, I experienced it. Took about two years for my accent to come back and then I was "Southern" again.:) I'll probably never get to be "Southern" the next time I move back!!:) It's okay, it's a minor thing.:D

I know what I want to use, I just have to buy the CD first so I get the lyrics right. It'll probably jazz a few people off too, but that ain't my problem. :lazer:

Actually TNW22Fan, if there was a logic in the signature that you or anyone else who thinks it has merit could explain, it wouldn't appear, as you call it, ridiculous.

I recently asked ten or people, some who are members of the Sons of the Confederacy and others with deep, solid roots in Virginia, North Carolina and Texas (I'm an old Aggie), and none of them understood or could offer an explanation of what the signature meant. Several of them said they considered it was intended as an insult. In all honesty I must say it was not interpreted by me as such as my original inquiry was out of mere curiousity.

Let's take it out of the realm of "if I have to explain it you wouldn't understand, it's a southern thing", and the question becomes, what does the signature mean to you personally ??

God Almighty !!! TNW i really didn't mean to open a can of worms, Guess may be i should have just kept my thoughts to my self. Sorry :bleh:

OK, whizzer, I've tried to be nice about this, I've tried to ignore you and your persistent questions, and I've tried reason. Now you've pissed me off.

1. I personally could care less what you think about it or anything else I say.

2. It has become painfully obvious that you are trying to raise my blood pressure. I refuse to allow it to happen.

3. If you have this much difficulty reading and interpreting the English language, may I suggest a good adult education center near you?

4. Define Southerner any way you like, as I do. If it requires research, the library is open usually until around 7 PM. Library cards are often free, or available at a small fee. I, however, am not the public library, nor am I your parent and as such responsible for educating you in every little matter that life tosses your way.

5. If it gives you this much grief, perhaps some therapy and/or medication would be beneficial.

6. Possibly most importantly,

WHAT'S IT TO YOU?

I hope this answers some of your questions. If not, write them on a Cheerio's box and mail it to someone who gives a rat's azz.

Slow down TNW22Fan. Gee. You had the signature and I asked for an explanation of your meaning. Difficult question?? Not really.

Common sense might indicate a person posting a signature on a public forum would offer explainable logic of thier reason for posting the signature, but apparently that does not apply in this case.

DE, you know what you said there. You COULD care less. Me thinks you mean you COULDN'T care less, or maybe you could care less. Now I'm confused...could...couldn't? Oh well, my wife always tells me, and you guys will agree with this...American by birth, Southern by the grace of God. Now on with the show.

Seems to me we got off the track here. Getting back to Brett i remember his win , i also remember him starting out when he was a young pup at Stafford Speedway in Conn. I also watched his brother Geoff win a track championship there. He ruled the place in the #1 modified back in the mid to late 70s.

Good to see someone getting back to the subject at hand. :) Didn't Brett have a reputation as a pretty rough driver when in the modifieds? Seems like I heard that somewhere.

Brett's win at N. Wilkesboro was actually a scoring snafu. Had the race been run with today's equipment, it would have been another win for Earnhardt. Just about everybody, including Brett was surprised at the outcome.

Yes, I think you ARE confused. You have me mixed up with an Earnhardt fan. THAT'S confused. :p

Whizzer, it ain't gonna work. Fish elsewhere. I am done discussing this with you. Forever. As soon as Christmas is over, and I see if I got the CD I am after (so I'll know if it's safe for me to buy it or not), this bothersome little quip will be gone, replaced with a lyric that comes very close to expressing my innermost thoughts. I saw the band do the song live, and it blew me away. You've likely never heard of the song or the band, so I won't bother. You probably won't like it either. I definately won't care.

It's not exactly a household name band.

Bluegrass gets ignored a lot on the web, as well as in record stores. For instance, CDNow doesn't even list it as being in existence yet, even though it was released in September.

Yeah............how did I get involved in this?:D Might be from a thread I started in the Chit Chat section about grammar and spelling. That probably got under a few skins......but hey, it's off season.:)

The group is Mountain Heart. The song is Mountain Man. It's track one on the new release, No Other Way. If anyone can find the lyrics for me, I'll 86 this sig so whiz can sleep at night.

TWF.........got cutie working on it now. She's damned good at finding stuff on the internet.:)
