Its all about the subject, so who is everybody's pick?
Who will win the 2002 Winston Cup Championship?

My pick... Tony Stewart.

The guy who can keep it clean for the rest of the year,Mark Martin is running, as always as clean as anyone on the track.I believe that he will finish first,And Jeff 2nd,Sterling gonna fade like a bad paint job the rest of the year,Tony has the Harvick curse riding on his back,He just won't push as hard as he use to,And I don't blame him,He has a career to protect at this stage of the run for the cup. :)

1. Mark Martin
2. Bill Elliott
3. Jeff Gordon
4. Sterling Marlin
5. Jimmie Johnson
6. Tony Stewart
7. Kurt Busch
8. Ricky Rudd
9. Ryan Newman
10. Kevin Harvick

Well I think Jimmy Spencer has it in the bag!!:D

But it'll come down to a three way thing with Jeffie, Tony and (believe or not) Jimmy Johnson. Any one of those three.

I was joking about Spencer, guys!!:) :D

Would the win count for Spencer if he started the race in Pruett's car? I might get a win afterall...but he didn't do anything.

Jeff Gordon is going to win his 5th championship this year. The only thing I don't know is if he gets a win this year.

Interesting points for and against Tony winning it.

I think it still comes down to Tony and Jeff, and maybe Elliot. Bill has indeed been awesome as of late!

The most amazing thing ot me about this thread is that no one believes Sterling will win. This despite the fact that historically the odds heavily favor him!:)

I don't know, my crystal ball got lost years ago.:(

Watching the trucks last night the guys kept going on about the mathmatical possibillities. Seems that there aren't too many that are really out of the race. I'ld say it's pretty much that way at the top of the Cup ladder too.

Bonus points. Big factor. Marlin and Johnson are going to miss out on bonus points today (now starting in the back). If they get involved in something, all of the top 5 and any of the 10 could make a huge run. With the right racin deals falling his way, even The Jeff could walk away from The Glen with the lead.

But who's going to take it all this year? Got no idea. It's almost to the point of Sterling's gonna have to give it up.

I still have my crystal ball!!! Works just as good as it ever did, hold down the papers on my desk just perfectly!:D

Rookies don't win championships. But then again, most rookies don't have the year Jimmie Johnson is having. Can he do it? Yes. Will he do it? We will just have to wait and see. He sure seems to drive an awefull lot like Jeff Gordon though. You don't see him all day and then he ends up with a top 5 or 10 anyway. That seems to be how to do it.

And how can you bet against Jeff Gordon himself? If anybody knows how to points race, history shows it is him.

If spencer knocks enough cars off the track, he still has a chance.:heehee: :heehee: Actually I would like to see mark martin win it.

I thought we could start seeing who would be in the final hunt around this time.
But anyone in the top 8 still could be the champ!

It's making for an interesting race

Gordon went back one position and Tony went up two.......yes, it's going to be a very interesting race for the Championship this year!!:)

My mistake..........Tony went up THREE!!:)

It's still Sterling's to loose and I believe he will.

That Viagra guy might be up for it. (SORRY:eek: ).

Mark, Jeff, Jimmy, Tony, Rusty, Ricky and Bill are still well within the chase.

After Todays race Its anyones to win or loose. I am going to go out on a limb and say AwesomeBill from Dawsonville. Today would have been much better for him but a bad call cost him a bunch.

Call me crazy, but I think Ryan Newman is gonna sneak up there before the end of the year.

You're not crazy.......Newman is already there!! Well within striking distance. It would surprise me if he did........but I would not bet against you if you were betting on him.:)
