With all this crappy weather, I'm thinking that a good bowl of hot chilli would really hit the spot. Does anyone have a really good recipe? I'm not looking for anything really spicy, just down right good. I'm open for anything, with or without beans. :chef:

Cutie says do the Google thing...........search for "chili". You'll get tons!!:)

well if you find a good one..share it...I will look at my cookbooks later and see if i can find the one I used to make........it is a handwritten recipe...but it was a good recipe..........usually now we just play it by ear.........
now I'm in the mood for chili.........we're having tacos tonight.......well burrittos..soft shell things i threw together tonight:)

Try this Buckaroo

Add all ingredients, and add to small cans of water.
cook about 3 hrs on med heat.

ugh now I'm hungry for Chili, Tacos, and Burritos :(

pb- whats with the grape jelly?

Can't stand chili made with tomato sauce! LOL
It usually winds up tasting like tomatos instead of chili.

I cheat. I use the pre-packaged spices called Wick Fowlers Four Alarm chili. I use water instead of tomato sauce --- works fine.

I can't believe this bunch (no pun intended pb) didn't have any more recipes than this. I'll give pb's a shot some time and give it a report. Thanks pb.:)

ya know, i havent had great chili since i worked with this one guy. he makes like 5 gallons at a time. he was from pittsburg. if you do come across known good recipies, i would be interested.

Reminds me of something that happened a few years ago. Down here, we have what is called a Chicken Stew. Southerners know what that is. I used to work with this gal who would have one of these each year. Along with the stew, she would make a big huge pot of chili. This one particular year, one of the guys who worked with us told her he had some great chilis if she wanted some. She said bring em in and she would add them to the chili. He handed her a bag, but warned her not to use them all. She didn't, only about 3/4 of the habeneros did she add to the pot. There were over 100 guests to her stew and while normally, the chili is the first thing to go, hardly any of it was eaten that year. :) We are talking HOT!!!:FIREdevil

Buckaroo I have made a lot of chile ,and would love to get together, and mix up a buckaroo bunch.:) :D I like the addition of fresh ground sausage to anyone recipe,it seems to give it an extra boost, and the grape jelly is an acid buster.:) No heartburn with even the best peppers.

I'm whipping up a batch right as we speak and as I watch Sheryl Crow! Just like Steve McQueen! Great song. (I've got TV on my PC so I can watch and shoot the bull all at once.) Oh, back to the chili, I am trying something new and if it turns out good, I'll let y'all know. :)

About the only time you can mess up with chile is not making enough,or making to much buckaroo.:) Did you get in on that bad weather? I had a load of breading going to Purdue Farms in Concord NC.That took 3 days to delv.

Hmmmmm! That chili is beginning to smell gooooooood! Now to let it simmer for a couple more hours. BTW PB, I'm making a pretty big batch. Will freeze the leftovers. :chef:
