The Winston Cup Championship?

I think Tony Stewart will run away with it from here on out. He is always better the second half of the season. Sterling can't hold on much longer.:beerchug:

Whoever drives their car the best and has the best luck. So just about anyone in the top 10. But I think that If all goes well, Mark Martin will pull it off.

Thats very true, Tony usually scores the most points in NASCAR in the 2nd half of the season. But his consistency this year scares me. I really hope your right bowtie.

He's not my favorite anymore, but sooner or later the 24 team is going to get it together. When they do Jeff could really come on strong. He is still very close even though he is having an off year.

Vengeance is sweet, especially after a twelve year NASCAR-induced enema. Mark Martin. All the way. IF NASCAR keeps their mitts off his points this time.

I hope Tony never wins a cup...the moment he wins one he's gonna leave NASCAR faster than a mayor at a No-Tell Motel.

Ya think? I ain't never been accused of being a Tony fan, so I don't follow him as closely. What makes you think that? (Now watch Paul pop some link up where Tony is quoted as saying if he ever wins a cup he's leaving faster than a mayor at a no-tell motel...)

Well ya knew he would TWF....and he did.

And yer right, if anybody can overtake Marlin, it's Mark. Everybody else seems way too inconsistant....especially the youngins...maybe Tony has a chance but unless somebody gets hot and stays hot, I'm thinking it's the Marlin/Martin show down to the wire with Tony in cold pursuit.

I think Tony has the best chance!

NASCAR and Home Depot may have given him the incentive that he needs. He has won in every other division he has raced.

Leave Cup? Possibly. But I think the need to prove himself will remain. And it is the "premier" series for drivers.

But Tony is mercurial. One of the reasons he is at the top of my favorite driver list.

It's Stewart. Like I said he smells blood. All things considered, he has been the most impressive this yr followed by Newman.

I will let you all know what I think about Tonys chances are after 12 rounds at Bristol,If he can control his weakness there he can control it anywhere. He diffentally has a good a chance as anyone when it comes to driving talent, and good equipment.Add a little luck, and self control,he might just pull it off.Thats a lot to ask for though.Mark needs to keep full focus, and get just a bit more aggresive, and he can be top dog in the big apple.Bristol may shape the cup picture a little more clearly if experience shows up with a little luck,no matter who that might be. ;)

MARK MARTIN deserves more then anyone i think this year..........BILL ELLOITT would be neat to watch win a championship...........

Elliotts only 236 out with plenty of racing left. Get another win or two and a bunch of top 5's and tens and we've got the 02 champion!

Tony has been running well lately, but the cup is still anybodys to take.

i would be happy for ya awesome-bill............... my first girlfriend i ever had, her dad was a Bill Elliott fan, and we use to argue about who was better............Bill Elliott or Kyle Petty (i was a big Petty fan when i first started watching NASCAR). it's funny because now i am rooting for him and i am happy to see him winning again................what a funny sport we watch.

I couldn't agree with you more, Paul! He's my pick to win this year, but part of me hopes he doesn't, because if he does, I don't think he would be back in 2003.

I would love to see Rudd make a late surge and win the championship. It would give him some incredible momentum for his first year with the Wood Bros. :)

OOOOO LIZZYCAT, mercurial....I love it, and TRL will too.

Personally, I am kinda pulling for Mark Martin and of course me future son-in-law.... pic below PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

My understanding is that top F1 drivers make buckets more dough than the top Cup drivers. Always have.

And as far as "premier" series go, I doubt that half the guys in in Cup could dent the top 10 in ASA. Mystery yellows are not part of the game in America's Premier Short Track Stock Car Series.

And the reason I know it is the premier short track series is that it sez so right on it's website.:p

Would that be a bad thing?

Tony is bringing TONS to the sport (WC stock car racing). In terms of experience in other racing series and intensity. His passion may spark controversy, but why waste a good stock car seat if you don't have it.

Hey........if Tony wins the Cup this year (which could very well happen) does he have to complete his anger management classes? I mean if he's gone and the keys are left on the bed, why would he care what Home Depot or NASCAR think?:) Will we see him next year driving for TRAC on the Indiana Colts team?:D

I don't see Tony leaving NASCAR if he wins a Championship. He's not the type to settle with one Title.......maybe if he gets 4 or 5 he might start to look elsewhere, but not after just one (lots of people have won one and he does't want to be like lots of people!). And if he were to leave and attempt F1 he would put a "dent" in the top ten!!:) He's that good.

And I'm saying this as a person who doesn't consider myself a Stewart fan......though, that's changing little by little as the season progresses.:)
