The "good old days" ??
Comparing the stats of 2 drivers while competing for the same organization seems like a good way to start an argument, so here goes.
Everyone knows Kurt Busch won a championship for Jack Roush, then moved on to Penske racing for the next 6 years. Here are his stat totals for those 6 years.
Races: 216
Win total: 10 (4.6% win average)
Best yearly win total: 2 (4 times)
Top 5's: 46 (21.3%)
Top 10's: 92 (42.5%)
Championships: 0
Full year CC's: 3
Brad )) came to Penske for 3 races at the end of the 2009 season. His first Full season with Penske came in 2010 with his own CC, so I wont count those first 3 runs test runs. His first career cup win was with Phoenix racing, and it was also James Finches only cup.
Races: 99
Win total: 7 (7% win average)
Best yearly win total: 4 wins and counting.
Top 5's: 21 (21.2%)
Top 10's: 32 (32.3%)
Championships: 0
Full years CC's: 2
It looks pretty equal to me. Kurts numbers dropped off a bit after leaving Roush, which seemed to be a huge mistake in his career. Brads numbers are very simular to Kurts first 3 full seasons at Roush. So what gives?
These 2 have another racing organization in common. In 6 tries with Phoenix racing, Brad scored a win, 3 top 10's, 1 DNQ and a finishing average of 15.4
Kurt has 26 starts for Phoenix racing this year, and has scored no wins, 2 top 10's, 5 DNF's and a average finish of 24.5
