Okay, some of you say it's the cars.

I say it's the fact that they're racing on these cookie-cutter racetracks.

Let's settle this.

It's the cars. It was bad enough when we went to cookie-cutter track, now - it's all Carl Edwards, and everyone else hoping they don't spin out coming off of turn 2. I mean, it's not even Roush - it's Edwards. I guess I'm moderately satisfied that it seems like Jimmie will rack up second place finishes, but at the same time the rest of the field is just sliding around praying they don't kill another competitior. That's not any fun to watch.

My dad and I say cuz they aren't in packs, they're all strung out.

Turn that wing up 3 degrees and give em a tapered spacer like busch, and see what that does.

It may be the cars or it may be the tracks. I have all ideas that once they return to a track a couple of times and get an understanding of how the COT behaves at that track the racing will get better.
I still think going with softer tires would help. It would put some strategy back into what they can and can't do. But, I also think the tires should be the same for the entire year so the teams would know exactly what to expect. And it would save the teams tons of money. Nascar and Goodyear are trying to hard when the answer is simpler.

I think part of the reason is that we who are watching TV don't get to see what's going on all over the track. I know when I would go to the race, then watch a replay, it didn't even seem like the same race.

The car is giving some teams fits. It will take a year, or even more, to get it figured out. I well remember the screams from drivers and teams when the car was first down-sized years ago. Man, you couldn't hear yourself think with all the whining going on.

I also think Goodyear is making it difficult for Cup teams to get a handle on the car when they bring the same tire for both Cup and Nationwide --- the cars are different --- shouldn't the tire be different?

So, I really can't answer your poll --- because I believe there is more than just those 2 answers.

That's brilliant, I never even thought of that.

Duh.

Combination of both plus the fact that Nascar isn't allowing very much creative enginuity with the new cars.

Amen sister, and it takes a newbie to ask such a question.

Sorry Andy, but you have shown to the rest of us that you haven't been around the block too many times on this issue.

There is hardly any real racing any more. Turns in to follow the leader

If a driver just gets sideways the yellow comes out. I dont think just cause a driver spins the yellow needs to come out. NASCAR is yellow happy.

Drivers cant get on the roof anymore

Drivers cant cuss, flip each orther off.

Ever since Dale Sr. died i have been lossing intrest in NASCAR. I'm almost to the point to where i could care less on the race. I still watch some of the race, but i dont get in to them like i once did.

I think the majority of the problem is the COT (POS). Along with junk tires and a tapered, horsepower-robbing restrictor plate.
The drivers have to keep the pedal mashed because of the lack of HP caused by the plate and the car handles so poorly through the corner. The combination of the two doesn't work with the COT. Before the tapered plate, the drivers had the choice to let up going into the corner and power out from the center off. Now if they let up going into the corner the engine is much less responsive and much less able to gain RPM's coming off the corner.

Son of a gun, I like the races just fine, they go around the track they bump and bang, some of the guys have thier cars right and some of them don't. One guy wins and the rest don't. Been that way for years.

Edwards was good and so was JJ, Biffle was also fast but his crew screwed him. If the guys were almost spinning out every lap, then why didn';t they adj there cars? Carl and Jimmy's crew chief figured it out. Quit whinning, watch the race and enjoy it, cause it ain't going to change. Besides, its about time the drivers earned their money. LOL Duane

The tapered plate is used on the Nationwide cars, not Cup.

For me..... I've got one BIG reason........ no driver anymore....lol. Mark is still there, but geeze...... once month race.... and I just can't get into a new driver...lol

cookie cutter tracks are boring, especially TMS.

You just opened up a can of worms. All the Texans are going to stick a fork in you now. :D

I agree, Texas sucks. It's right there next to Michigan, Pocono, California, Chicago and Kansas for "Most boring races."

I'd rather see some bumping and banging on short tracks.

I've been to TMS several times, I haven't seen a good race there yet, If they can honestly tell me the racing is good in Texas they can pile on!!

I've seen ONE boring race at Dover. But every other race I go to, Richmond and Dover, are exciting as hell.

They shouldn't go to any tracks bigger than Charlotte. Charlotte, Atlanta, Darlington and Rockingham should be the ONLY tracks bigger than a mile that they should go to.

ne thing I will say though.... is it just me, or since the chase, points don't mean doodle to ya'll? I was thinkin about it the other day..... as long as a driver i in the top 10, 12, 14, or 20..... whatever they decide the cutoff for the chase is this week....... its ok.... I remember back in 98 sweating 10 points here and 5 points there all seaon when Mark and Gordon were battling for the points. Heck if I was a driver, i'd run some here, take a week off there, run some more.....lol just have to be with a top team to do that......but still, could happen.....lol

Speedy, you have some good points there, but just to take you to another place at another time, there are still people in the baseball world that cringe at the thought of a wildcard. I think to a smaller extent, football fans feel that way as well, but what it does do is to give more teams a chance to win the big one, as long as they are on the top of their game at the end of the season. Same goes for those drivers in NASCAR. For most of us old timers, in time, we'll fade away like old soldiers and if NASCAR survives with the newbies, they will be so used to the Chase that no one will even talk about the old days. In stead, it will be, "who'll make the chase"? I'm pretty neutral on this and I couldn't care less one way or the other, but I know there are millions of old timers such as myself who just can't get over it. But you know what, if you go back further in the history of NASCAR, the points awarded have changed several times. There was a time that Richard Petty was given more points simply because of his wins, not his position.
