Sunday was a perfect example why current car owners should not have a job on TV in any way. Toward the end of Sunday's coverage of Daytona 500 qualifying, Fox discovered Clint Bowyer's car failed post-qualifying inspection, the car was too low. Bowyer's car is owned by Michael Waltrip, who is now an analyst for Fox. With some time to fill after some interviews, Waltrip appeared in the Hollywood Hotel with host John Roberts. Instead of getting a comment from Waltrip about Bowyer's car, nothing was ever asked or mentioned of the situation to Waltrip. Had he not been working for Fox, he would have been asked about Bowyer's car. Instead, they just skipped right by it. This is why current car owners should not have a job on TV.

How outraged would fans be of other sports if say Mark Cuban became and analyst for NBA games in the studio? Or what about Jerry Jones or Jim Ersay an analyst for NFL games? Fans would not put up with it. But for some reason, NASCAR and the networks that cover it think it's okay to have current owners on the air working for them. I don't get it.

I prefer not hearing from the car owner, because they will just use the time to sell a BS story and mention their sponsors. Fox did cover the infraction though. I think they said numerous cars had height problems and needed time to rebound or settle. I think that the 15 was the only one that ultimately failed.

I mentioned the same thing during the race thread when Truex punted someone out of the race. Michael read his mind and declared that it was unintentional . What else was he going to say?

I agree, MRM!

As an example, I present Crusty Wallace, who is the worst race commentator EVER! Partly due to the fact that he so obviously failed to call out Blinky when the kid was most certainly to blame for an on-track "incident" - but also partly due to the fact that he just plain sucks...

I couldn't agree with you more MRM.

Michael Waltrip is a waste of space anyway. By the way, thanks for posting about something other than Danica or the Busch Brothers!

I had to laugh when DW said right before the end of the broadcast. There is the 15 crew sitting there waiting for the car to settle. They should be on their knees.

i wanna know if/how kyles car pased inspection. That car had to be a mangled mess for the egg crate. Figure he shaved an inch off the bumper and bent the splitter up, bent body panels here and there....

I wonder if there's some video of Dave Rogers leaning in the car and telling Kyle.....

DW is funny - but his humor gets pretty damn tiresome by race 4 or 5 of the FOX "season".

Now with Mikey on board, Dog only knows how much more quickly I will grow tired if it...

I already did. Mikey is walking around showing everyone his helmet, which is plastered with images of he and DW. It's going to be a sponsor plug filled DW nut hugging session every week.

DW's way too arrogant. Mikey is entertaining until he gets around his big brother.
