Team Owner
Sunday was a perfect example why current car owners should not have a job on TV in any way. Toward the end of Sunday's coverage of Daytona 500 qualifying, Fox discovered Clint Bowyer's car failed post-qualifying inspection, the car was too low. Bowyer's car is owned by Michael Waltrip, who is now an analyst for Fox. With some time to fill after some interviews, Waltrip appeared in the Hollywood Hotel with host John Roberts. Instead of getting a comment from Waltrip about Bowyer's car, nothing was ever asked or mentioned of the situation to Waltrip. Had he not been working for Fox, he would have been asked about Bowyer's car. Instead, they just skipped right by it. This is why current car owners should not have a job on TV.
How outraged would fans be of other sports if say Mark Cuban became and analyst for NBA games in the studio? Or what about Jerry Jones or Jim Ersay an analyst for NFL games? Fans would not put up with it. But for some reason, NASCAR and the networks that cover it think it's okay to have current owners on the air working for them. I don't get it.
