Why don't they race in Japan anymore?

Good question? I know it was huge over there! I kinda wish they would run a exibition race every winter in diffrent countries

That would be cool! Can you imagine them on some of the F-1 courses.

That would be cool. I was kinda thinking go down to Austrila and go to Rockingham, England, both japan tracks. There is a ton out there that they could go to, but only 1 a year would be the max!

Yep, I agree. Just once a year in the off season. It would give us something to look forward to in the winter.

The original deal was for three years, and NASCAR did it for those three years.

The attendance was not very good, lots of empty seats. And it cost a whole slew of money to put the race on for both the teams and NASCAR. The scheme had two goals, neither of which has been acheived.

First they hoped perhaps the interest would be high enough that a NASCAR type series could be started in Japan, it wasn't. They also hoped that perhaps a Japanese business or three might be lured into sponsorship for teams in the states. Except for the Kikkoman sponsorship of Hideo, which is limited, that hasn't really taken hold to my knowledge either.

The next step of bringing Toyota into the fold, might prove eventually to acheive both goals. We'll have to see.

NASCAR did go to Australia, they have gone to Japan a couple of times and there was some talk about the possibility of a trip to England and Germany. In light of the current schedule, I don't see anymore of those overseas trips happening again in the near future.

Around my neighborhood we look forward to snowmobiles, skiing, and ice racing in the winter. Plenty of racing to enjoy.
And if I get too bored, I can always just walk down to the end of my street during an ice or snow storm and watch the folks trying to get up or down the hill. That can get quite exciting at times.

Alot of people do not realize that crating up those cars and shipping them over to Japan cost ALOT of money. Its just not feasible anymore.

I really doubt there will be a NASCAR like series over in Japan. the fuel and land is just too expensive.. but it would be cool to see exhibition races in other countries.. but even that is probably too expensive <_<
