why is there not friday qualifying at indy?? its doesn't seem right to qualify 2 series, have happy hour and have a race all on saturday.

Tomorrow is q'ing day for Cup. They race on Sunday.
N'wide is standard qualify, then race a bit later tomorrow.

Having both series q'fy on Saturday may be to put more butts in the seats.

it just seems like too much to do in one day and also out of the normal procedure.

The first Brickyard 400 at Indy, they had qualifying all weekend before the race, something akin to the qualifying procedures for the Indy 500. Don't think that made it to the next year.

For good reason.

Nobody likes to see days of qualifying. The end results will be the same and very anti-climatic.

There's no point with NASCAR's 43 car field. Nobody wants to see two start and parks try to make the field.
