Why so many empty seats?

Tracks often close off sections of a track for smaller series so they can focus on filling those number of seats. They expect to fill many more seats for the main event, the Cup race, than they do the Busch. You might have noticed, though, that the sections that were open were actually pretty full.

A lot of people to go to busch races, just not as many as the Cup races. Hell, I think they should, but when it comes down to it, most fans are drawn to the top series or a division of the sport. They know there's lower series, but they want to see the main event. And there are many fans that are just pulling for their driver like the typical Gordon, Stewart, etc. fan and aren't interested in watching the lower series if their driver isn't in it. One arguement for why the Cuppers should be allowed to race in the Busch series as they do now, to try and attract more fans to watch the Busch series.

I thought that was a great crowd for the race --- compared to some I've seen.

I don't understand why more people don't go to the BGN races --- they are extremely entertaining.

I go to the BGN races all the time here in Vegas. In many ways BGN raceday is even better than WC.....less traffic, choice of seats, easier to move about the midway.

Used to be that Winston West would race after Friday qualifying and practice. A sunset/night race. And believe it or not, the BEST race I've ever been to at LVMS was the very first Winston West race held here. Two of the local boys (Busch and Gaughan) gave a couple Winston Cuppers (Craven and one of the Burtons I think)a real run for their money with one or the other of them tagging behind Craven almost the entire race. WW now does our 3/8's Bullring instead of the speedway.

Anyways, haven't missed WC qualifying or a Busch race out there yet, but have passed on two Cup races.

Whenever I travel for a whole weekend to a race (ie, camp out or stay w/ the folks) I go to all the events at the track, but a lot of times I will make a road trip just for the WC race on Sunday. With the cost of tickets and such so high already, who can afford a hotel room for the whole weekend...

I love the Busch series myself. It just seems somehow a little more free of Nascar's 'tooling'...a little more pure to me.

Why don't people go to Busch races?

Sometimes it's simply a matter of priorities. I would love to go the Busch race here in California but I have to choose one or the other. Busch tickets are about 35 bucks to Cup's 50 (for the seats we like......down around row 10 just out of turn 4) which would add an additional 70 bucks for my wife and I. Then there's transportation which we use Amtrak's chartered train (wouldn't even consider battling the traffic nightmare at California Speedway) which is about 25 bucks a head. That would add about 120 dollars to our once a year race weekend. For the money it's well worth it........but, then there is work that usually has to be done. I take a day off, I lose a day's pay. Factor all that in and it can get rather expensive. So I don't go to the Busch race because I make the choice to go to the Cup race. There's a lot of people like me.:)

Where do you find it written that WC drivers are not "alowed" to race in BGN?
Many were there today, but many also choose not to race in BGN but rarely.

It's perfectly legal for the Cup drivers to enter, run and win in the Busch series. I, personally don't like it.......it takes points and, often, wins away from the Busch regulars. The Busch series currently has a very tight points race going. Someone say in third would have a chance of moving well into first........but someone who is not even contending for the Busch championship enters and wins. Takes that chance away from the guy who is competing for that title. Does that sound fair to you?
I've heard it said that "well that just makes for better competition and the Busch guys benefit from it".........that may be true but it also takes dollars out of teams pockets which could also benefit them (likely more). I wish they would stop allowing it.:(

DE, I was taking a portion of a quote from rpmallen.

In fact, today Mikey won, Todd, Jeff Burton, and Jeff Green were right up there too.
I'd prefer the WC guys to say in Cup, let the BGN drivers earn the points and prize $ too.

alot of people work six days a week..............sunday's are there only days off.............maybe that is why Winston Cup gets more attention.............both WCS and BGN rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kat, I know they win the prize money and the points for whatever position they finish in. Let's say a cup driver wins and another cup driver finishes 2nd and say Jimmy Spencer winds up 3rd. The most a Busch regular can come up with is 4th......fewer points and less money. And I knew what you were quoting......I took the opportunity to voice my opinion on "buschwhackers" or "ringers" or whatever you want to call them.

Like ya'll really care.....:D

I think that any driver in the top 25 in Winston Cup points ought to be made to pull out of the race with 3 laps to go AND that no driver in the top 15 in WC points be allowed to attempt to qualify if there are more than 42 other teams entered.

Close to 10 teams went home early this week. 7 or 8 grand for last place is a lot of money to a team that can't hardly afford to buy tires. Average team earnings in a Busch race is less than 20 G's as it is.

Leave the little guys alone to race among themselves.

I agree with ya 71fan. I really dont like seeing these guys coming in and just shoving the little guy out of the way. Today the top 4 were WC drivers. There is no reason why they should be allowed to race in the Busch series.
