Why wasn't Jr in the 3 last night?

If I recall correctly, Jr ran the #3 to fulfill a Nabisco contract obligation of his dad's. Now that's done, and he'll be in the #8 from now on.
 
Yes, but this was his first shot in quite a while driving a DEI car (and Dale Jr. Motorsports??) in a Busch race. I assume DEI can't use the #3.
 
The #8 car is a new team DEI is starting, with direction from Dale Jr. Not sure why he why they weren't able to get the #3 from Childress, maybe Jr. didn't want it?
 
I feel JR. wants his own identity with the #8, he is not SR. and though he ran the #3 in a few races it probably was more of a tribute to his dad. now that he is moving on with his own life he most likley wants the #8 to be associated with the name Dale JR.
Just my opinion.
 
I might be wrong, but I think DEI owns the Busch 3. Jr. drove for DEI in the 3 along with Park and Hornaday.
