•Why did Cope withdraw from Martinsville? #75-Derrike Cope was entered to run last weeks Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway, but withdrew. An explanation on Cope's Facebook: "We had entered the Martinsville Sprint Cup race scheduled for this weekend...but we were unable to finish the car in time for us to properly prepare. We had a few issues that presented themselves and put us behind so we opted to withdraw our entry and try in the near future. The car looks great! We will work on some sponsorship as well as get the car on the pull down rig, chassis dyno, and possibly test on a short track somewhere to get more prepared before our next outing."(4-5-2011)

Why the pull down rig, dyno and test just to Start & Park?

Well you gotta qualify, still make a few laps to ensure you can even get in the race.

They are barely getting 43 cars every week now. Wait a few more weeks and it wont be an issue.

45 cars are listed on the entry for Texas in cup and Nationwide. The economy appears to be getting better as houses are starting to sell around here. Now if the darn gas would go back to less than $3 I would be a happy camper.

I drive a full size pickup truck and this $4 stuff is killing me.

The same 43 will probably race every week. I remember early 2000's the issue of start and park teams filling the field was a big issue. You had Shelmerdine, Shepard, H. Sadler, Hilenberg, and Cope doing the same thing as a hand of guys do now. Funny thing was that just 2 or 3 years later there was 50 regular teams trying to qualify for every race with the full intention of completing the entire distance. I think with enough patience things will come back around to that.

No not really but sometimes things are beyond your control. Compared to larger teams he's working on a shoestring, sometimes you miss a week because you just don't have the funds. BTDT

Well if you on a shoestring WHY spend the money putting your car on the pulldown rig,Chassis Dyno and testing only to S&P.What's he have to out qualify anymore 1 or 2 cars?

Your assuming his plan is to start and park though it never says thats what he plans. Your just assuming that based off of the past.
