The "good old days" ??
Lets face it, the 48 team has the point lead mainly because everything has been falling their way lately. Some examples:
1) Charolette. The #2 car was so dominate, both the 11 and 48 went to fuel strategy with 110 laps to go. Somehow, the race stayed green. Even with their mistake running out of fuel, one yellow would have changed everything.
2) Kansas. Everyone talks about the 48 teams miracle on pit road, but it involved a ton of luck. First, JJ is told to stay on the track and go to the garage. He can't gather it up in time, and rolls down pit road, where the call is changed to come to pit road and not lose a lap. The real miracle is nascar going 6 friggin' yellow laps on a 1.5 for a spin, and that's the luck the 48 needed to fix the car.
3) Martinsville. Yep, he got lucky when Hamlin blew a $20 switch, because there was no way JJ was going to beat the 11.
4) Texas. The #2 car had them beat not once, but twice. JJ got lots of help from Greg Biffle, who was the main cause of 2 of the 3 cautions. JJ needed 3 cautions to get the job done, and that's exactly what he got. A 4th could have put Kyle in the winners circle, but the racing Gods once again decided to give JJ what he needed.
I say it ends today and the #2 gets it's share of luck to win this thing. If that fails to happen, there's always Juan....
