Will Kenny Wallace end his streak?

Herman has a streak of 253 races in Winston Cup wothout scoring a victory. Ranks him up there pretty high amongst active drivers.

He showed some good runs in the Pennzoil ride, and has been fast on occassions in the past with good equipment. But still never managed to make Victory Circle.

Now he has his own sponsor and new full time WC ride with Bill Davis racing. Ward has proven that BDR can field a winning car, though Hut and the #23 are not quite up to snuff.

Will this be the team that boosts Kenny to his first win? Does Stacker2 have that much ooomph!

In a word: No.

In more words: I don't think the #23 equipment compares favorably with the #1. It might be more like the old #81 that Kenny had a number of years back ... and he didn't do a whole lot in that car. I suspect he may do better than Hut did, but I'm not looking for threats to win.

Hut and the #23 were not up to snuff b/c that team was only running on a budget of a few million dollars. Hills Brothers was just a 3-6 million dollar sponsor, but Bill Davis wanted to keep his second team alive. Stacker 2 brings about 12 million with it, from what I heard, which should help that team's performance significantly.

It would be nice not only for Kenny to win but Mike also.

That 14 car ain't winning nuthin'...Too bad they didn't keep the old 12 team going for him, he looked good in that ride.

I was really surprised in finished 10th at Bristol. I thought for sure that he was going to stay in the 12 car. I think he really could have been successfule in that car.

Kenny can win but Bill Davis can't give him a car capable of winning.

As much as I would like to disagree with that, I can't.

Bill splitting resources like he has to to keep two teams afloat this year has led to mediocrity on both teams. And that's with Ward winning twice. My eyesight is as good as anyone else's; Ward caught some tremendous luck at Daytona. Yes, he had one of the best cars for the duration of SpeedWeeks. Yes, he was in the right place at the right time. Tell me what race winner ISN'T in the right place at the right time. Could he have won without the obligatory huge wreck? We'll never know. Sterling's impromptu body shop venture on the back stretch meant nothing - he had to pit either way and he knew it. New Hampshire, Ward caught the same luck any race winner catches. He just beat 'em that day. The first Darlington race, he had 'em covered until he got caught up in someone else's mess. Please refer to the luck statements made above.

Hut, now, there's a hoss of a different planet. He has never done anything of note in a Cup car, and I got a retirement fund that says he never will. Kenny Wallace is a better driver IMO than Hut. But it's the CAR. Bill does not have the resources to make both of them truly competitive, so they both ended up mediocre. Stacker brings more money to the team, but that's next year. I think Cat is pretty happy with Ward - they damn sure oughta be with a Daytona 500 trophy.

So to answer the question, I don't see it happening. Not with Davis. I think Kenny should be driving the Pennzoil car next year myself, but nobody asked me. It's about all BDR can expect to get 2 to 3 wins a year IMO. And that's with some luck.

I also think that Kenny would have more luck in the Pennzoil car.

Agreed, but no one asked me either :)

I'd love to see Kenny win, but I wonder if he will??
