Will Kraig Kinser fail in stock cars like his "Daddy" did?

To begin with, it is NOT NASCAR that Kraig will race. Secondly, I don't consider Steve a failure --- it is just a different car.

From Jayski:
Kinser to drive for MB2 Motorsports in ARCA at MIS: World of Outlaws racer, Kraig Kinser, who joined MB2 Motorsports' driver development program this season, will compete in Friday's ARCA event, the Hantz Group 200 -- at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). The 20-year-old son of legendary sprint car racer, Steve Kinser, is coming off an emotional weekend. He won Sunday night's Knoxville Nationals main feature at the half-mile oval in central Iowa, the most prestigious race in the World of Outlaws Series. Kinser's ARCA team will be a joint venture between MB2 Motorsports and Andy Hillenburg Racing. Kinser will drive the #10 Chevrolet with sponsorship from CENTRIX Financial, U.S. Army and Checkers/Rally's. Doug Randolph, MB2's driver development manager, will be Kinser's crew chief. The team will also receive support from members of MB2's #01 and #10 Nextel Cup teams. Kinser, the 2004 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year, completed four test sessions in an ARCA car -- at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C., Lakeland (Fla.) Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway and MIS.(MB2 Motorsports PR)(8-17-2005)

Who said Nascar? Hes going to try in Arca first! Now how many wins did Steve have in any Stock car? And how long did he last in Nascar?? With these facts it = FAILURE! Sorry! But not one car owner in cup wanted that boy around after he went and made that green car look like a rasin every week!

Well, IROC is stock car racing.
So he had one win. 1994 at Talladega. So as a STOCK CAR racer, I guess he wasn't a failure. One win in twelve starts aint so bad is it?

You want just the facts? I'm not sure you like them unless they suit you.

beedie,

There is no stock car driver, alive or dead, who comes close to Steve Kinser's record in real race cars. Ya know, those 1000hp, 1100lb cars that drive the rear end directly off the end of the engine crankshaft, no clutch or transmission to rob any of that horsepower, and do wheel stands down the straights on a dirt track?
What is it? Something on the order of 19 Championships and I'd have to look up his win record but I know it far surpasses Richard Petty's mere 200.

Have to wonder how a lot of the "young guns" of NASCAR would do in something like that?
More than a few would need some clean undershorts about the first time they punched the loud pedal, I'll guarantee you that.

Steve K. never had a stock car that was capable of running with the pack when he was running in NASCAR, but he still pulled off a win in IROC when he had equal equipment to the golden boys of racing entertainments premier promoters.

Hey there, boB. How's your motor running? :)

Steve Kinser doesn't drive those cars. They become part of him. Like his arms and legs. It's like watching an artist at work. Or an acrobat. And he's still going strong. Truly the King of the Outlaws. And yes, I agree, his stint in NASCAR was not in the best equipment.

I believe Dick Trickle has them all beat with 1200 or so wins, doesn't he?

Pretty sad when a poster calls a driver with the record Steve Kinser has, a failure.

Steve Kinser raced in five (count'em, 5) Winston Cup NASCAR Series races. Of those five starts, Kinser was involved in two wrecks, one not of his making and the other I do not recall. Kinser had one blown engine making three of the five races, DNF's. Kinser finshed 27th and 28th in the two races he completed.
To say he was a failure in NASCAR is incorrect as he had a shorter learning period than most drivers. Because Kinser was so successful in open wheel racing, he was expected to post a win the first time out.

When Kinser left the NWCS and returned to the WoW, he missed the first eleven races yet went on to win eighteen races plus his eleventh Knoxville National Championship that year.
In his "failing" career, Steve Kinser has won nineteen WoW Championships and over five hundred feature races.

Steve Kinser a failure ????? Hardly.
Every driver wishes for the same success Steve Kinser has had.
To say Steve Kinser is a failure is to admit ignorance to............ the FACTS.

Bumpzter,

Not looking to argue about Trickle's record, but didn't Ray Hendrick have some number up in the thousands as well?
For some reason, I seem to recall reading something about maybe 2,000 feature wins during his career, but that may simply be senility setting in; just another senior moment?

You mention the car becoming an extension of Steve when he straps in, we lost a supermodified driver here in New England last summer who was that way. Ollie Silva raced his homebuilt super all over the USA and Canada against the very best of the day and he beat them all.
Guys would laugh when he pulled into the pits with that car, but Ollie was usually the one who was laughing at the end of the evening when the checkers fell on the feature.

There's a special IMSA memorial race at LEE USA SPEEDWAY tonight and I'm unable to make the short trip over to catch the show.
It's sure to be a good one!

Steve Kinser a failure
shockkk!.gif
I don't think so.

Well put boB...........It's takes some real ball$ to race them outlaw rides!

I think Kraig did a great job, Qualified outside pole ran well then because of pit stops had to drive his way back through the field and finished 8th. Pretty outstanding run for a guys first time in a stock car.

Turns out Kraig finished 8th in ARCA race today. :)
Good for Kraig. Pretty good run.

And, friends, don't forget the ignore feature of the board. ;)

Amen, I think that I will use it.

Could be, boB. I hardly know anthing about him. But now I'm curiuos and may do some research. On the other hand, have seen Trickle many times.

Outstanding it was!!!! Lets hope they (and himself) don't push to hard and fast just because he has a name that attracks money!!!! :beerbang:

I dont think his name gets the money, because i know a lot of ppl that could not name one WoO drivers name, but could say the abc's on nascar drivers.

I have one of steves diecast nascars, someone from the board gave it to me. (Flametamer, i think thats his handle) and i got it autographed last year.

Kraig Kinser impressive in stock car debut

ThatsRacin.com Report

Kraig Kinser, MB2 Motorsports development driver, had an impressive stock car racing debut, finishing eighth in Friday's ARCA RE/MAX event at Michigan International Speedway.
Kinser drove the No. 10 U.S. Army/CENTRIX Financial/Rally's Chevrolet as part of a joint venture with MB2 Motorsports and Andy Hillenburg Racing.

The 20-year-old World of Outlaws star, who won the famed sprint car Knoxville Nationals last week in central Iowa, started the Hantz Group 200 ARCA race from the outside pole. He held his own throughout the 100 laps of regulation and in the overtime green-white-checkered restart. It was only Kinser's second career race on pavement.

"I came here to learn and not to change the world," Kinser said. "I am very happy that we got all of the laps in - I learned plenty today and had a lot of fun. I definitely have to work on a few things - my restarts, going through the gears and coming in and out of pit road.

"We now have 200 miles under our belt that we never had before. It was a good start and I am ready to do it again."
